Far worse! Raith yesterday got a 1-1 draw with Hamilton with 5 first choicers out - if we had that Sammy the Tammy would be on the bench! We literally don’t have enough numbers and when you look at the amount of older injury prone players we have - we are gonna be in serious trouble at some point through the season!

GK at start of relegation season:
Mehmet, Fon Williams, Currid *remember that whole saga?

GK at end of relegation season:
Mehmet, Stolarczyk

GK currently;
Mehmet

So GK is clearly weaker

Defence at start of relegation season:
Comrie, Edwards, Martin, MacDonald, Breen, Watson, Fenton

Defence at end of relegation season:
Comrie, Edwards, Martin, MacDonald, Breen, Donaldson, Ambrose, Jones, Fenton

Defence currently:
Benedictus, Breen, Comrie, Fisher, Ngwenya, Young

Looks weaker at the moment in terms of numbers at least but quality is arguable.

Midfield at start of relegation season:
Chalmers, Dorrans, Pybus, Allan, Dow, Thomas, Todd, Cole, Whittaker

Midfield at end of relegation season:
Chalmers, Pybus, Allan, Dow, Thomas, Todd, Cole, Lawless, Polwarth

Midfield currently:
Chalmers, Todd, Hamilton, Otoo, Ritchie-Hosler, Wotherspoon, O`Halloran

Probably about the same but better balance maybe in the relegation season?

Forwards at start of relegation season:
O`Hara, Wighton, Todorov, McCann

Forwards at end of relegation season:
O`Hara, Todorov, McCann, Kamwa

Forwards currently:
Wighton, McCann, Kane, Sutherland

Similarities there, some decent players but will they score?

So overall, I`d say this current squad is probably slightly weaker than the one that went down, and our only hope is that we unearth a few diamonds when the loans come in, but we need to make sure we`re not cut adrift before that happens.

Much weaker, certainly at the back and in midfield. Not one single player with the quality that Dom had who could change a game. About. 5 of the usual starting team took us down and they are still mainstays of the current team.

Depressing! Doesn’t help bene looks like his legs have gone and we’ve replaced Edwards with a guy who looks a bit hopeless. The same chocolate players injury prone players will revert to type, espech if we’re getting beat most weeks.

Unless we add this group I’ll be flabbergasted if we finish above 9th. Even if we do add to this it will be raw youngsters who are more likely to look like boys against men that contribute toward keeping us up.

Think there’s a few players missing from Kelty’s list there. Easy to forget though, given we must have had over 30 players play for us over the course of that season.

For example, we had Gaspuitis and Ross Graham at the start of that season as defenders. We had Iain Wilson in the squad at the start of the season too. Hughes released him in January. Think we had Kai Kennedy for the first half of the season as well - not that he makes the squad any stronger.

Dorrans played in the playoffs, so was definitely still here at the end of the season. Chalmers wasn’t here at the start though, he was signed in January. Whittaker also retired long before the season started.

On the point of the thread though, we seem a lot weaker. We have no depth to the squad and the starting 11 definitely looks to have less quality.

Its really hard to say where the quality lies in our squad,Otoo looks to be the only quality we have and i think if another bid comes in for him he will be off, leaving us in an even bigger hole, the replacement for Josh looks out of place at the moment , Taylor Sutherland looks our best option upfront his attitude and willingness to have a go what we want

The squad we had that season and the league one season and last season were built upon crowds of 5k. We will be getting only 3k soon. Cook et al must really have their collective heads stuck up their a***.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Aye, had a feeling it wasn`t quite right - had to look at a few games to even remember some of the squad (Paul Watson, Reeves Cole, couldn`t remember when Breen and MacDonald joined etc).

Just shows the drop off in terms of numbers of senior players and quality though. Very hard to see many of the current squad getting a game for the relegated side - Benedictus at his best, Otoo, Todd and that`s about it?

Depends on your perspective, of the relegated squads, the only players I`d want to add to the squad are Thomas, Lawless and Edwards. Matty Todd is certainly much improved, to a lesser extent Breen and McCann. The current squad is younger, more potential I`d argue.

It does show the squad is light, the goalkeeper situation is very poor. A few more good players, presumably younger guys on loan are required. McPake in the meantime needs to get more out of what he has got.
