I read an interview with him last weekend. He was quite scathing about the English media, especially the press. He could not understand their obsession with his private life and their attempts to compromise him. Having managed all over the world he said his treatment whilst managing England was unique. In other countries they were only interested in his football career.
He seemed like a good guy. RIP.

I’ve listened to a couple of Sven’s fairly recent interviews. There’s not a hint of self pity in there, it appears he accepted his fate in a way that we’d all like to aspire to. He was very grateful for the manifold opportunities that came his way. A life well lived.

listening to the Peter crouch podcast and he references Sven quite a bit. References that in Denmark/Belgium etc a player drunk etc in public would be hidden by team mates, sneaked out back door and taken home safely where here they are thrown out the front door and humiliated as much as possible etc. Ericksson being set up by a "fake seikh" etc to attempt to humiliate him. Crouch spoke a lot about his charachter and admiration for him and its something that is pretty universal with some of the biggest names in the game.

Was given the unenviable task of managing the "Golden generation" of England. Savaged my a tabloid media that should have been backing their man rather than trying everything in their power to ruin him!
A top manager and top man.
