Falkirk playing some brilliant football, Hamilton meanwhile look absolutely awful. The fact the pars are below them in the table is a shambles

Hate to say it but McGlynn is streets ahead of McPake in terms of management. He has learnt lessons from their season in league one and is signing players to suit his preferred style. It’s hard to think that many wanted him out the door after losing to Airdrie in the playoffs.
It’s sad to see how far we’ve fallen behind them when we were miles ahead in our season in league one.

He`s been in management 4 times as long mind you.

McGlynn is experienced. He’s done well with that Grangemouth set up but he’s still John McGlynn. Won’t be long till he’s counting corners and making “nobody’s deid” comments. Football after all is like that

Good luck to them ...they`ve progressed well since promotion whereas we seem to have gone backwards. Sad really

Falkirk miles ahead of Hamilton. They are a decent team and work hard/fight for each other. McGlynn is miles ahead of McPake in man management and preparation for games. It’s going to be a long season😩

If we played at the same kind of tempo as Falkirk then maybe we`d win some matches. As it is we play slow plodding football like Hamilton, and only up the tempo when we are 1 or 2 goals down and chasing the game.

Their record over the last 18 months or so speaks for itself - only one league game lost across two different tiers - knocked out two top tier teams in cup competition - and gave Celtic a run for their money, including scoring twice.

Exactly this. Ball out wide and early to their wide players and immediately Hamilton on the back foot. Can tell they are brimming with confidence as well.

How many saw this coming after their performances in League 1 during our promotion season?

100%, get at teams and put them onto the back foot is always the best way to set up in my experience.

Not the season where we went up, however I saw them twice last year, once against Alloa and another time against Stirling (may have even saw them play on BBC Alba once or twice)and must admit that I thought they would do well in our league this season.
Confidence plays a huge part in football, and is a key factor, but a game plan is also fundamental. If you’re enjoying your football and playing to an enjoyable game plan then the confidence comes.

In our Title winning season in Division 1 , Falkirk and Airdrie were better to watch than us .We have not moved on from Div 1 ,maybe even regressed in playing style.

Well, I`ll put my hand up and admit I didn`t see them putting together the sort of winning run they have over the past two seasons, regardless of playing style.

Were you happy we got promoted or upset that we weren`t the best team to watch?
Falkirk looked bang average any time.i watched them that season. Especially when Airdrie humiliated them twice in the play off

Having watched Falkirk a couple of times on Alba towards the end of last season ( away at Montrose comes to mind) I was very struck that there football was so much faster than ours , more creative than ours and more productive. So as far back as April I was sure they would finish well above us. However I didnt think they were likely to finish in the top two.

I had no idea we would be in this position after winning League One comfortably. We made a mistake handing out lengthy contacts for some players who are struggling at this level. Last season, we failed to strengthen and Falkirk improved their team - thanks to their cup run by signing Championship class players in League One who can play the way their manager wants and in the correct position. We are guilty of playing too many players out of position and not having enough depth to drop players who are failing to perform each week.

I wasn`t comparing them with us, just expressing surprise that they had achieved sustained success after such a mediocre season two years ago.

Hardly mediocre when you look at the season they had before that
Finished 6th that season, so a definite improvement which has kept going...
A points improvement of 24 points and 21 more goals scored.
