...eat my neighbour`s dog blankets. And she`s got heckova lot of them - dogs and blankets - all hairy and smelly!
How does anyone conclude that we have any semblance of a chance of finishing top four? Fourth place is ten points ahead of us right now. We`ve got nine points - it`s gonna take more than Sooty`s magic wand!
Blah blah - here it comes - better squad now - improving blah blah! Answer me this: to catch the likes of Partick in fourth we have to be not just a good top four prospect - we have to be a good top four prospect that can give a team of their standard a ten point start and still overhaul them! Do we look like we`re gonna amass ten or eleven points more than Partick Thistle? Now let`s have some bleedin`sense!!!!!

You`ve got yourself a reputation. You need to reinvent yourself and turn over a new leaf (as Eve said)
How about

Three points a win in a ten team league….. finishing 4th is very doable at this stage of the season.
Until we win three games in a row I will reserve judgment.
Are we capable of winning three in a row with JM as manager?
I doubt it ..
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

One of the characteristics that makes football so attractive is its unpredictability. Even so, I wouldn`t put any serious money on the Pars making the promotion play-offs just now, but I might stick on £20 if I was offered 10/1 or better.
Realistically, it depends on what happens in the next couple of months. If the club is sold and the new owners make significant money available to bring in a few quality players to strengthen the squad, we would have a chance, provided we do not become completely detached from the teams above us, which I don`t think will happen.
Come the end of the season, I think the table will look remarkably similar to last, with only a few points separating the clubs from 4th to 9th and where the Pars will be is anybody`s guess. I`ll go for 6th.
Not your average Sunday League player.

GG if the new owners come in and make some funds available would you give it to mcpake?
I’d argue apart from the goalkeeper and Kane the other players he’s brought in haven’t improved us this season.
Defence aside none of the squad are nailed on starters, we have plenty of options in the middle of the park now but none of them seem good or consistent enough to hold down a regular place
The post below replying to me is by one of .nets finest champions of mediocrity!

Well done most of you for posting a bit of sense.
As for Parrot`s suggestion that Alter Ego could change his name to `Altar Boy` - you mean like `Choirboy` ? He certainly hits the high notes on this forum - always seems to have his nuts in a vice.
According to desperado, (Sun 3 Nov 01:34):
`Three points a win in a ten team league….. finishing 4th is very doable at this stage of the season. Until we win three games in a row I will reserve judgement. Are we capable of winning three in a row with JM as manager?

He seems to say it`s very doable if we get three wins in a row. Why? Then we`d be closing in on fourth place? Only if the fourth placed team gets beat a lot. A wee bit of a stumbling block there.
GG Riva seems to recognise that fourth is out of reach unless:
` the club is sold and the new owners make significant money available to bring in a few quality players to strengthen the squad`
There`s a few huge `ifs` in those opinions.
Put it this way - Partick and Queen`s Park have both have got 19 points from 12 games. At that rate, fourth place could be something like 57 points. Possibly a bit less.
Somebody pointed out that since we`ve had our current strengthened squad, we`ve taken five points from six games. 24 games left.
Need to win about 16?
Doable?

Three in a row isn`t easy in this league.
Falkirk have done 5 and 3,
Livi have done 2 twice,
Ayr have done 3 and 2,
QP, PT, and Raith have done 2 once.
So even 2 in a row is quite a difficult task.

L,W,D,L,W next 5 games. Inc. cup(s) my prediction.
Cup results paper over the cracks.
Then we get Ayr, Thistle or Queens Park away in the Scottish.
We will end in the playoffs at best if we don’t make any changes to the management.
And the football we play is the most tedious, boring and bland I’ve ever witnessed in my years watching us.
Still always next year eh
Do you think I'm the man?
A) Yes, B) A or C) B

The unintended consequence of competitive leagues where you play each other 4 times I think is the lack of entertainment value, due to the implications of loosing a couple of games that can drop you into the danger zone. In reality, in terms of crowd numbers is there much of a difference between the championship and league 1. If not, I don`t see the benefit in the league structure as it is.
