`Scottish League Two club Bonnyrigg Rose have been deducted six points - because of the slope on their New Dundas Park pitch. And the Midlothian club has launched a fundraising campaign to pay for resurfacing works. It follows a Scottish Professional Football League disciplinary tribunal at which the governing body said the club admitted the rule breach. Because of their pitch`s gradient, the Scottish FA in September downgraded the club`s licence to entry level from bronze level - a minimum requirement for the SPFL.
Bonnyrigg have been deducted six points, warned about their future conduct and now must provide details by 31 January of funding arrangements and a programme of works to allow pitch levelling works next summer. It means Bonnyrigg drop four places from fourth to third bottom, still two points above Clyde and Forfar Athletic.
Appealing for donations, the club said on X: "The Rosey Posey, the heartbeat to our community, needs your help. "We are fundraising to help towards levelling the pitch as well as improve draining, etc., to ensure compliance with league membership."
Bonnyrigg won promotion to League 2 in 2022 after winning the Lowland League and finished eighth of the 10 teams last season.`
I don`t think Taylor Sutherland enjoyed his spell on loan there too much because of the difficulties caused by playing on a severely sloping pitch.

I can`t understand why the SPFL didn`t ask them to carry out the necessary work before allowing them in to League 2, or make it a condition that it had to be done by the end of their first year in the SPFL.
Not your average Sunday League player.

When they were promoted they only needed to have an SFA Entry Level license, but that has recently changed so that all SPFL clubs need a Bronze Level instead.

From what i heard aswell the sfa had said they would help fund or whatever it was to fix the pitch etc etc, stringed bonnyrigg along then told them that the money isnt there anymore, from what i`ve seen and heard anyways, i may not be right so please do not jump at my throat if my info is innaccurate sorry

True. There probably weren`t any rules regarding how level the pitch had to be, back in the day.
I`m sure there were other clubs that had sloping pitches then.

Stirling Albion`s former Annfield ground was one - I think it also sloped slightly from one corner to the diagonally opposite one as well.

I remember us playing Albion rovers away and when you looked at the byline it had a massive dip before rising above level at the post. I am surprised that it was allowed.

This is what annoys me more than anything. Which one is worse? Easier to deal with a club with a couple of hundred fans, than tackle the real issue of Scottish Football

On one of the open days some years back I wandered over to speak with a club official that knew my Dad from way back.
There was a minor but noticeable hollow in the playing surface just inside the eastern half of the pitch in front of the terracing side.

This is how I remember it. Never noticed until the Norrie went up and shadow cast by the afternoon winter sun had a big scoop missing.

What is the maximum slope allowed. Brechin certainly has a slope towards one end and they have got a bronze license.
