I see he has been appointed head coach at Coventry City. His last job in management was as interim manager of Chelsea from which he was sacked in May 2023. He has a mixed record but famous ex-players, (Wayne Rooney is another one), seem to be attractive propositions to some owners.

Binning off a guy who took them from relegation candidates to the play offs via an FA Cup semi final they were a centimetre of a VAR decision of winning to appoint a manager who has a name but no real history of success is one way of doing things.

Amazes me how Lampard and Rooney manage to get management jobs! Not even as competent as McPake and that’s saying something!

Don`t know about that Lampard done pretty well at Chelsea and you could argue sacking him was a bit premature. At least he had an identity I still don`t have a clue what ours is.
c'mon the pars

He was within 90 minutes of taking Derby into the Premier League, losing 2-1 to Aston Villa in the playoff final. He is quite an intelligent guy and I wouldn`t be surprised to see him make a success of it somewhere.

Have to agree with Lampard, think he has done a good job previously, with 1 failure on his CV but most managers have failure somewhere

He did well at Derby, and his first stint at Chelsea - Everton was pants but that club is a mess, and Dyche isn`t doing much better.
I think he`ll be ok - and hope he does well. He seems to be a pretty decent guy.

I think he’ll do well. He’s got a club where he’ll have a lot of influence, potential 25-30k home support and lower expectations than his previous premier league employers. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got them to the playoff’s this season. Coventry already play decent football so he has a good base to work from.
