Quite intrigued by his situation , thought the lad did well and looked a good addition to the squad, goes off on international duty and hasn,t had a look in since,

Defo, young looked good for a few games then his level dropped and you expected fogarty to come back in but he hasn’t. Maybe it’s injury?
I think even Hamilton seems preferred at centre back to him just now.

Can he be recalled in the January window? I`m guessing his parent club won`t see much point in him being here kicking his heels. It`s better that our own player, Young is getting developed rather than another team`s youngsters

Mcpake actually prefers to play players out of position than play foggarty who looked like our best defender when he played

Thought Young struggled a bit with the wind yesterday so was surprised he stayed on and Fogarty or Fisher didn`t appear at half time. I like Young but I think Fogarty is probably a touch better and more consistent at the minute.

Agree Kelty, not Young’s best game yesterday, just seemed to boot it aimlessly up the park every time it came to him and guilty of letting the ball bounce too often. Can only think fogarty is carrying a knock.
Not sure we’ll see much more of fisher, just hasn’t kicked on at all and at least 2-are 3 ahead of him including Hamilton as a CB.

he started a month ago at Hampden, was dreadful in the first half including his part in the first goal conceded and hooked at half time. thats why he hasnt been involved since.
the question in January isnt will he go back to Birmingham, its will we recall Breen for the 2nd half of the season or sign another centre half.

Despite the frequent changes in formation and personnel at the back our overall defensive record isn`t too bad - 18 goals conceded in 16 games. Fisher seems to have dropped out of favour too. So far our CBs have stayed pretty much injury-free this season which reduces opportunities too.

I like Fisher, I like Foggarty and I like Young.
Bene is obviously the main man but any of the 3 I think could work beside him.
I would say Young looks more promising than Fisher but genuinely I’m surprised Foggarty has been frozen out like he has. He’s a young defender that put himself in the wrong position and ended up being turned inside out, for me that’s not enough to have been benched like he has 🤷🏻♂️

Probably loaned out? He’s not getting a game and he needs to be playing at his age.

January.
He`s playing regularly so I wouldn`t be surprised if Annan wanted to extend it.

Not really a miss when we are not using him. Young has been preferred to him lately and if there`s not much between then, then we are better giving our own player game time and sending Fogarty back to his parent club

If we send Fogarty back and, as suggested above, loan out Breen and Fisher, we`ll have no cover at all apart from Otoo and Hamilton and we know how popular playing them at the back is!

I think breen picking up more than his fair share of injuries at crucial times for us was a big factor. In saying that he has played 10 games in all competitions since going on loan. Playing every minute and wearing the captain`s armband on 2 occasions. Has 1 more goal than wighton this season.

Suspect fogarty will go back and breen will extend his loan. This free up a slot for the possible new manager to get a player of his own in.
Young started really well but has been mostly miss recently, struggled a bit on sat.
We could really do with loaning quite a few players out that are currently warming the bench to make some space for fresh blood.

Was essentially cover for Bene being injured and limited chances now he is back (not sure if they have they played together?).
Looked good in the Raith game and steady enough in games after that but Rudden gave him a pretty torrid time at Hampden.
I actually thought Fisher looked the best of all our CB's at one point. Strolled through games in the early stages of his time with us.

Breen was a bombscare at the start of the season that`s why he was punted out. Cost us a few goals with his terrible positionining, Livi first game of season springs to mind. Good on Mcpake for rectifying this.

Why sign Hogarth then? (Predicted text someone got Hogarth instead of fogarty!)
Most other clubs in this league have loans player la who are in the first team, we have to be careful that sticking our own in doesn’t disadvantage us if they are not up to it.
Walcott last season was a massive factor in us staying up, if we were comfortable mid table maybe but we’re fighting to avoid the playoff lottery at the moment.

Yeah Hogarth should be fogarty!
And I would include the loan of Kane last season too. Should we have continued with McCann or wighton upfront?

I agree with what you’re saying. Fair play to Sam Young for making a place for himself but in regards to Fogarty, if he was that much better than everyone else and he helped us this season before going back to Birmingham and carrying on his career, for a season it’s a win-win situation for everyone involved. A bit like MFW loan signing last season. He was better than what he had and helped us stave off relegation.
Same with signing Kane. He’s a good signature in that he’s better than anyone else we’ve got in that position but he’s out to often. If we had a bit of something about us we would have signed someone else to play alongside him or at the very least push him for his position so we wouldn’t be caught short when he’s injured.
I give McCann less of a hard time because Insee he puts in effort even if you want to argue he’s not good enough. Wighton, I’ve little time for because he should be good enough but puts in very little effort.

Sam young had a great start when he came in but his level (like everyone else) has dropped off. At this point you put your best team out as it’s all about getting points on the board.
Fogarty could be like Walcott, Walcott took a while to settle before going on to be an important player.
I’m more annoyed at mcpake in that he was given budget to bring in more players when we were well off it at the start of the season and he p1ssed it away on players who have made no impact in the team whatsoever.
Even the players he got in early have been mixed. Ngwenya has settled at least, wotherspoon has scored a goal and done nothing else and Kane has 3 league goals and when he plays he’s rarely match fit.
God awful recruitment year on year.

I’m firmly in the McPake out camp but I think you’re being harsh on him there. He got a budget after the players he originally wanted were signed up elsewhere. The players we’ve signed since are all players we could hopefully develop but while we’re fighting a relegation battle, that’s no much use to us atm

Agree with this. Shared responsibility.
That said, one of my biggest gripes is that there`s not a single player in that team that`s got better in the past couple of years. I don`t buy the fact that they can`t cut it. The potential is there.

McPake previously said he would not bring in players to the club who were not better than what we already had. Yet that is exactly what he has done, with most of his signings warming the bench. Unless the new owners come in soon, I wouldn`t let him spend a penny in January as he would likely waste it.

No wonder we are In the mess we are when the bar is so low. Don’t have a go at someone cause they try 😂😂. Doesn’t matter if they are devoid of any quality to be a championship player. Most of this squad shouldn’t be there as they are simply not good enough for this level

Again rusty we’re taking mcpakes friend and an agent word for it on that.
An agent who knows mcpake will get another management gig in League 1 and he’ll hope he then signs a few of the players he represents.
He chased wotherspoon for 2 seasons and now he doesn’t even play!
