Aye, it`s all part of the fun of speculation.
There`s clearly a list of usual names for every club at our level (in our case minus Yogi Hughes) same for McBookie, and a local 20 quid bet will move the odds massively .
Add into the mix the wee team fishing in the same pool, will be all the usual suspects, then there might be a left field appointment.
If you`re a journalist, the obvious first port of call will be fantastic forums, I`m surprised they haven`t mentioned jobinthebank or Lee Bullen yet!

In fairness, he only had a single good season at Raith. Clearly something wasn`t right at the start of this season but they`ve barely improved under the new fella and are nowhere near how they were.

They always take it down overnight, then put back up in the morning. They don’t have people up keeping track of news/monitoring activity at all hours, so that’s how they do things.

Even though he did a seemingly good job early doors, not long before he got the bullet fans i knew were getting a bit fed up of the football being played, surely there must have been something in it.

An alternative, more positive interpretation of this could be that his teams had a never say die attitude and played right to the final whistle. I think Murray could be a decent appointment for us.

To be fair didn’t Murray pretty much build the core of last seasons airdrie team that mcpake took on?
This season we’re seeing in more dramatic fashion that with us what happens when you lose players and replace them with inferior quality.

I think we have to be realistic in our ability to appoint a manager commensurate to our standing in Scottish football, our financial footing and current league status. Murray I feel is about the standard we could attract and he has a good knowledge of the Scottish scene and our current league in particular, so I think he would be a good fit. And let`s be honest he can`t be any worse than what we`ve just had.

Bit of a reality check in terms of Callum Davidson.
As much as we are a `bigger` club in a lot of respects the reality is they are financially well off, new ground immiment and a (proper) training facility they`ve done up after buying the old police grounds at Lochinch.
Be very surprised if he has any interest.

There seems to be a body of opinion which covers Scottish managers from Clarke down. Maybe influenced by SFA coaching manuals, partly as the teams in our league are pretty close in ability (Falkirk under McGinn seem the only exception so far), to keep it tight and get something on the break. Doolan, Scott Brown, Martindale, McPake. Few games with large scoring wins, but usually tight affairs.
Boring football! We’re dependant on our new man signing someone who can score goals and maybe another couple who can lift the confidence.
We can only hope. Merry Xmas and a Guid New Year to Pars fans everywhere.

Brown - 433(high wingers)
Mcpake - 3 Centre halves and defensive wing backs.

A Raith friend of mine said that the football wasn`t good and as you say they managed to get results. The dilemma for managers in the championship is how you get yourself out of the division and be able to step it up in the Premiership. That takes not only money but also a solid club structure and foundation and players who can perform consistently at that level. That takes several years to put in place. Otherwise, you yoyo up and down the divisions.

Although I don’t have my A Licence, having gone through the SFA pathway, I’m not sure that it is something the SFA are drumming into young Coaches or Managers, but like everything in football, there does seem to be a trend at the moment and that seems to be it.
Boring football……it bloody is eh? Not the way I want the game to be played. I say it all the time but I long for the Paton/Calderwood era, not just for “success” but being exciting to go to the football and watch an attacking team. It’s what I was brought up with (don’t remember much about the Leishman,Munro,Scott eras) and it’s why I fell in love with the game.

I felt the same way when we won the first. Lots of single goal victories. Not complaining but most of the time it was marginal and I think the only reason we won on occasion was having the benefit of a strong bench to see out the game. I suppose you could argue that`s no different to any game but it felt like we had a heavy dose of luck.
