Just finished catching up on the EPL, and i think I`m watching a conspiracy. Not the `everyone hates my team` conspiracy, but I think the refs are choosing to make deliberately controversial decisions.
Yesterday`s games saw a clear handball in the lead up to goal not punished, an accidental clash of heads (after both players made contact with the ball) end up as a penalty, and an obvious trip in the box go unpunished.
I can`t help but think EPL chiefs have realised refereeing controversy keeps media engagement high, so are choosing to make things controversial to keep viewership and precious social media impressions up. Every week it seems we`re talking about the latest batch of rubbish refereeing calls, rather than great goals or classy defending. There`s even scheduled dedicated TV segments on it. Surely if the refs were good at their jobs we wouldn`t need a special programme to dissect their decisions.
Or are the refs really just that bad? Occam`s razor and all that?

The refs are just that bad. Its the same in Scotland - its not a conspiracy, the refs are just useless.

The Spurs player kicks it off the Newcastle player`s hand from close range. The hand was down by his side in a natural position, therefore no foul.
It was really poor play from Spurs that cost them, more than anything else.

It`s not a conspiracy, it`s a lot of armchair experts who don`t know the rules of the game or don`t understand that referees have to make quick calls, even when there`s VAR. They can`t stop a game for 15 minutes while they go through things.
I take it Rangers had some poor decisions go against them today?
Edited: Just checked and they are indeed foaming at the mouth about a handball incident. Further conspiracy is you can't post a link to FollowFollow on here. Clear that Brian is a Celtic man who hates the Rangers 😉

I was pleased to see that Newcastle’s goal wasn’t ruled out because an opposition player kicked the ball from close range into the non- outstretched hand of a Newcastle player in the build up. Common sense at last.
Brighton penalty was just ridiculous.

Yeah. Tbh on joelinton, I can take it either way.
The Brighton penalty is a complete joke, as is the non award of a penalty to Palace for netos foul.

And the game from Anfield. How Nunez stayed on the pitch completely baffles you.
Mind you - having him sent off might have helped Liverpool. :)
