Thought he had an absolute howler of a game tonight, many decisions for both teams I was baffled by.

One of the Scotland’s top referees, been doing European games. Aye nae bother. Can tell he never had VAR to give him a hand tonight.

He’s no good enough for the Scottish championship. That was Sunday league level refereeing.

Questionable for both teams in first half, then started to lose it as second half advanced.

Would, however, like to see the offside and both penalty shouts again though.

Can understand why both weren’t given from first view but thats why want to see them again.

Otoo put a textbook challenge in and clearly won the ball. Result? Free kick. Oakley was given about four final warnings and he even spoke to the Ayr captain to tell him to calm down. Not giving a corner when the Ayr defender cleared it from Cooper (I think?) when the angle of the ball meant it could only have been a final touch by the Ayr player. First penalty looked like a soft but still definite penalty - that cart horse they brought in was well dodgy and gave away a foul not long after that - but while the second might have been hand ball it was hard to see and we should have been scoring anyway. Guys who are used to having VAR just don`t seem to cope without it. We saw that on the FA Cup at the weekend too.

The corner one was Sutherland who put up zero fight about the decision, which generally means it was the right call. It did look like a corner mind you.

"Guys who are used to having VAR just don`t seem to cope without it."

It`s definitely this. Excellent point. They`re used to being bailed out every week.

Oakley persistent fouling but no booking.
Otoo booked for a clean tackle that led to the opener.
Goal kick awarded for a clear tackle by the defender.
Offside given at 0-2 that came off Ayr player and Sutherland looked level.
McCann tripped but no penalty
Handball but no penalty.

Terrible performance from the ref. Ayr are a better team than us. To beat them we needed to be at our very best and get a wee break. With the injuries to key players, missed chances and that wank of a ref we were up against it.

Still plenty to be positive about. Heads should not go down. Win the next 2 and go into the Raith game full of confidence.

Nothing wrong with Sutherland`s goal and we should have had two penalties. Unfortunately, this is the standard with Scottish officiating. They are complete idiots. Lots of people say they have sympathy for refs and fourth officials. I don`t. Thy`ll work well-paid jobs and their refereeing roles aren`t difficult.

Saying that, we were our own worst enemy for the two goals we conceded: complete defensive shitemares.

I feel the Otoo challenge, yes he won the ball but he took the man too. In the modern game, it’s a foul. Certainly not a yellow though.

One thing VAR has made clear is that referees make mistakes week in, week out. Every fan knew it and VAR just confirmed it. Not long after he booked Otoo he gave a foul against an Ayr player for a similar challenge. He just had a word with him though. The inconsistency is baffling.

I don`t think he was that bad.

The O`too tackle I can certainly see why he gave both a foul and a booking and that didn`t look a bad decision to me. On the possible push on McCann, I think it probably was a penalty but I`m not absolutely certain. One where even if it might have been wrong, I don`t think was a shocker of a decision. I couldn`t be sure of anything with the handball shout with so many players around it, so understandable that he couldn`t either.

Did no one else see the defender kick McCann on the calf? Looked clear as day to me?!

The first penalty claim definitely wasn’t a penalty IMO, it would’ve been incredibly soft

I`m absolutely staggered you think that.

The worst bit about that whole bit of play was actually playing "advantage" for the foul on KRH at the edge of the box. McCann had 2 defenders on him, and being pushed towards the corner flag. There was no advantage to be played, and he should have pulled it back for the foul at the edge of the box.

I think referees rely on VAR they would prefer to look at it again instead of making a decision there and then. If he is the best we have in this country then it`s telling why we don`t have referees in charge of international games etc.

c'mon the pars

I thought he clipped McCann’s feet from where I was sitting. Thought it was a clear penalty but video highlights might prove me wrong.
