If Taylor Sutherland was offside it must have been a matter of inches.
It looked like McCann was pushed over by the Ayr defender for the penalty shout.
Our defending at their first goal was horrific. There were at least three opportunities to clear the danger and all were fluffed.

Changes
Deliberate handball remains an offence.
The following ‘handball’ situations, even if accidental, will be a free kick:
The ball goes into the goal after touching an attacking player’s hand/arm.
A player gains control/possession of the ball after it has touches their hand/arm and then scores, or creates a goal-scoring opportunity.
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm which has made their body unnaturally bigger.
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm when it is above their shoulder (unless the player has deliberately played the ball which then touches their hand/arm).
The following will not usually be a free kick, unless they are one of the above situations:
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm directly from their own head/body/foot or the head/body/foot of another player who is close/near.
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm which is close to their body and has not made their body unnaturally bigger.
If a player is falling and the ball touches their hand/arm when it is between their body and the ground to support the body (but not extended to make the body bigger)
If the goalkeeper attempts to ‘clear’ (release into play) a throw-in or deliberate kick from a team-mate but the ‘clearance’ fails, the goalkeeper can then handle the ball"
So looking at the highlights again, I`m thinking the ball bounced off the defender on to his arm then hand. Given that his hand was half extended out to one side, does that not count as making his body unnaturally bigger?
The first one, the highlights don`t show it from the Norrie. The guy kicked McCann in the calf then bundled into him as he fell.
To sum up, the ref was *****.

The old adage, you must score when you are on top, never ceases to apply. Ayr`s first goal was farcical. All the participating Pars defenders were caught off balance. Send them to ballet class...
The ball broke off a defender into Taylor Sutherland`s path. Is offside the correct call in such a circumstance?
McCann was fouled and the Pars were denied a penalty.
A positive for me was that the Pars kept creating chances. The start of the season, when the Pars kept messing up play in the final third, is a distant memory.

Yes. It`s offside if he was offside when the original shot came in as long as the touch off the defender wasn`t deliberate. So a deflection would mean he was offside but if the defender tried to play a pass or head it to the keeper etc he`d be on.

McCann was running away from goal so few referees would give it. Poor first goal to lose. I think though that our thought process should be we can come back from one and try for two. You have make your own luck in football I think so we have no complaints

The ref was not best placed to call the handball or the foul. The linesman would have had a good view and was 20 yards away.
For what’s its worth, I thought neither were pens.
