As opposed to Mark Pougatch, or Mark Chapman, both champions league winners? Or after listening to Rio Ferdinand last night , absolute drivel.

I don`t watch women`s football (not a conscious decision, I just never seem to catch it in TV) but someone like Leanne Crichton is far more detailed and interesting to listen to than a number of the seasoned male presenters.

I started to watch the SWPL highlights show during the week. The first game was Celtic v Aberdeen. I don`t think words can describe how terrible it was. Really, really poor. In front of a crowd of about 300 folk, mostly woman by the sounds of it.
If TV companies want to employ women as pundits that`s fine by me. They don`t talk any more bollocks than Jamie Carragher or Paul Merson to be honest.

Weird folk saying that the women don`t know about tactics when tactics have nothing to do with strength, stamina, agility, pace, power, ability, height, etc. It`s about space, movement, organisation, shape, adaptability, angles, speed of thought, etc. Some of the best tactical analysis comes from the likes of Michael Cox and Jonathan Wilson who have never played the game. Whereas lots of ex pros simply talk about vibes and pride and what is or isn`t "good enough for this football club". I can understand some criticism or female pundits in terms of not understanding pressure or the size of the crowds or the expectations etc, but anyone complaining that they don`t know about tactics or that they don`t like their voices just come over ad completely misogynistic dinosaurs. Probably because they are.

Nobody is saying that you can’t express your opinion that you do not like or think women are capable of being pundits of men’s football…
But equally, you can’t get upset when people question what difference having dangly bits between your legs makes regarding being capable/competent (or not) in presenting / discussing men’s football matches!
Saying you don’t like to watch the woman teams play the game is different to saying there shouldn’t be female presenters

Mens football and women’s football are miles apart - but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be respected in their own rights. The general concept is the same as well - it’s like saying why should Joey Barton comment on the international game when he couldn’t cut it at that level?
Now theres a difference between if the woman is knowledgable and good or clueless and terrible. Gender shouldn’t come into it, only ability and knowledge should.

There is no one like Leanne Crichton.
Bad male presenters are not getting hired because they are male, they are getting hired because they are footballers who had top class careers.

Agree with da here, can`t watch womens fitbaw, nor do I particularly enjoy female commentators (I do like listening to some of the pundits though).
If that makes me a dinosaur or whatever other name people want to call me then so be it. It`s a shame people can`t have their opinion nowadays without being labelled as something or other.

It`s only misogynistic if you say you dislike it specifically because it`s women`s football. The comments here are around the quality of the football and the commentary.
The quality of football is easy to judge but the commentary and analysis is subjective IMO. Saying that, I wish we`d have people based on their knowledge and skills rather than some of the utter gross we do get. Just because you played for Rangers or Celtic doesn`t mean you`re going to be a good presenter.

I don`t know who the two ladies were who were referred to in the opening post but it`s hard to interpret saying they `probably don`t know how to lace up a pair of football boots` as anything other than misogynistic. Would that have been said about Kelly Cates or Gabby Logan? I don`t think they played football at any senior level but they frequently ask former male pros about tactics, etc.

I think the notion that women are universally useless at knowledge at football is total bollox.
Few can have had complaints about the likes of Hazel Irvine back in the day or Gabby Roslin and Kelly Daglish then and now and as mentioned Leanne Crichton is one of the best regardless of gender.
I’m guessing some people rightly have issues with some of the newer ones who are nauseating with their cliches are are basically just plants to satisfy equality managers.
Maybe doing proper research when appointing is the right way to go.

Exactly like the male pundits some are good some are woeful. Paul Slane is an embarrassment to the Scottish game of football McFadden is great. That lassie that feels she needs to shout down the TV on MOTD is a red neck sue smith on soccer Saturday is good. I think Barber is better than Jonathan Sutherland. It`s all about opinions but if they talk sense and have a bit about them I couldn`t care if they are male or female.

Let’s be honest, there are some good female presenters etc but there are more that aren’t. I don’t know why they think it’ll be a good idea to put people in those positions that they’re clearly not qualified for 🤷🏻♂️ it seems like the whole DEI stuff to me. Football Focus is on a huge decline and I wouldn’t be surprised if Sky will be seeing a huge decline in some of their programming as well.
It’s not doing anyone any good. They’d be better picking people out of merit rather than for their immutable characteristics.
