Read his interview on home site.
Very encouraging. Welcomes new ideas etc etc
We have had way too many players over the years who seem to have been poor and go onto good things after they leave us. And I think that on occasion is down to poor signings, not because the player is poor but because we ask them to play in a system or alongside players who don’t compliment them or are as good as them.
Wotherspoon is clearly intelligent but if the others aren’t in tune his passes go astray or the player hasn’t made the run. I think Joe is the same. He turns and turns looking for a pass and ends up passing 5 yds or back because no one has made the run.
It will be interesting to see which players shine ( and Joe may not of course) with a new style/pace of play under Tidser, that many of us have maybe written off. On that note MOH springs to mind.

How refreshing to read a thoughtful, well-constructed post instead of those which simply lambast individual players with insulting terms such as "wage thief," etc.
Not your average Sunday League player.

I like Joe Chalmers also, pretty much always finds his man, very tidy player, rarely caught in possession and has a sweet foot.
His positioning is good also, doesn`t just pass sideways to anyone, I feel criticism is just a pile, a lot of our fans just like someone to run around a lot even if they are out of position or getting exploited by the opposition.

I hope Joe does well under the new management .. I like him as a player and if the forwards make the runs Joe will make the passes

I always thought he was wrongly maligned, he can only pass forward when someone moves to let him, I look forward to how he`ll get on with the new manager and hopefully a less shackled style of play.
I don`t wanna go down like disco.

Players such as Chalmers, Wotherspoon, Ohalloran and Clay have been playing for years, must have some football abilities?
Problem is that some on this forum don`t recognise a football player!

A refreshing post. I believe Joe, MOH and Deniz are all good players who are too often lambasted through no fault of their own.

No-one on these forums knows what goes on behind the scenes and the reasons players do/do not play well. We`ve had plenty players who have moved on and done better/worse than when they were with us. It`s no different to any job where it often depends on if you`re the right fit for that team.

One of the issues with this forum is the same few, turn seasoned debate into eye scratching and handbags. It then potentially stops people posting or starting posts more often as the reading of the same old $hite throwing on most threads makes you fear for some peoples sanity.

Yes he’s not had many intelligent runners to pass to in forward positions and a lack of pace in the team means there’s rarely a defence splitting pass on but in this league where everything is hard fought you need to hard in the tackle and have pace to get back in as well as good positioning to cover etc and neither of these does Joe have. Not great in the air either for a taller player.
He’s not a defensive midfielder for me for the above reasons and he’s not got a goal in him, not sure if he’d be better as an attacking midfielder but again he’s not got the pace to get away from anyone and hasn’t got a trick so hard to imagine that would work.
He looked decent at a lower level in the same position that he’s struggled at this season and the season we went down. Not all players are good enough even if they are played a certain way to accommodate them.

Joe, MOH and Mehmet are good League One players. There’s no denying that but they aren’t good enough for the Championship.

Sorry alwaysapar, I mistook this for a football forum instead of a Joe chalmers appreciation forum.
It’s a forum for differing opinions and discussion. Perhaps this isn’t for you.

Well Berkey, as one who always encourages opinions on a forum under the one subject matter, I always appreciate your opinions whether I agree with them or not, and giving a different view point is what debating is all about
Unfortunately you`ve taken my comment of `the few` as if I was including you whereas my point and the point that coventrypar was making was in regards to the automatic replies that tend to follow your posts, which of course is no fault of yours
I think you might find that proper debating forums is quite a nice place for me to be 👍

Would agree with this. On the ball, Chalmers is decent enough and can create chances but he`s wasted playing defensive midfield. Too slow and can`t tackle. Similarly, he`s not suited to playing in a more advanced role, you`d much rather have a Todd/Cooper in there who can get chip in with a few goals and get up and down the park.
