Playing week in/out then we sign him and he’s on the bench getting no game time??
I don’t understand this as he would be great playing with Kane up top??

He wasn`t eligible to play in the last two games as he was cup-tied in both competitions.

Seriously, do you ever take a minute to think before posting?
It was mentioned plenty that he was cuptied.
Even if it wasn`t, how could you not figure that out?
Going forward, he may be part of the medium-term plan. Maybe he needs a bit time and a gradual introduction to two tiers higher than he is accustomed to.

I’d love to see Young start up front with Kane at the weekend. We have to utilise a player who is currently the top scorer in Scotland, especially when finishing is a major problem for us. He is also someone who is capable of taking a free kick! Hopefully he will continue the form he had at Edinburgh City, which I believe he will - provided he’s given the game time and not a 10-15 min cameo each week.

Tisder only plays 4231 so Young will only be able to occupy behind the striker or out wide. Think Yeboah ahead of him

I get what you are saying parrot but we have no problem throwing in players who have no first team experience, there’s only one way to find out if they are ready.
Once he gets that first goal he’s off and running and has a free kick in him that no one else in the squad has.
Would expect young to get plenty game time going forward even if it’s mostly off the bench.

We know Connor Young can score goals at league level, albeit two divisions below us, and having seen him a few times playing for City I think he should be a starter. He`s strong, direct and puts defenders under pressure and there are some pretty hard defenders in League 2. I just hope he`s not played out wide.

Apologies what I meant was play Kane behind him and Young up front on his own. He is a proven goal scorers and as promising as Yeboah looks, he’s not known to be prolific. I would rather see him as an inverted winger or as someone who can make any impact in the last 20 with his pace. I’d imagine Young was signed with the expectation of him being a starter at some point this season.

We’ve not been playing with anyone in a 10 role. Tidser tends to play with a deep midfielder (Hamilton), and 2 box to box midfielders. Indeed, he even talks about the importance of the player in the ‘6’ role, which is where Hamilton has been utilised, with Otoo given more freedom to roam.
If we need a goal in the second half of a game, Connor Young will be the obvious sub to bring on.

can’t remember the last time we didn’t need a goal in the second half of a game so hopefully he’s the man for the job

It might be an idea if we started going for a goal from the kick off , rather than when we`re behind . Everything we do seems to be reactive.
I`ve been hoping to see a more attacking approach , but so far, all I`m seeing is , pass pass , pass rubbish . Let`s start getting the ball up to our forwards quicker .
It`s almost like McPake Mk2 just now.

I know it’s not going to happen but a 4-4-2 against Livi with Young and Kane up top would be my choice.

That looks like a pretty decent line-up to me. I`d like us to attack straight from kick-off and not let Livi dictate play.

Assuming Tidser is not going to change from 4-2-3-1 to 4-4-2, & if he sees Kane as the number one striker and Yeboah as the number two, I wouldn’t be against Young going out on loan for the rest of the season, even if that was going back to Edinburgh City. He could get used to training full-time then hopefully hit the ground running at the start of next season. I’d rather he was getting decent minutes somewhere than occasional minutes here.

The last time we attacked Livi straight from the kick off we thumped them 3-0. Sometimes I think playing like this now and again will shock teams and hit them with the unexpected. The Partick game is another example of this.

I think Young was signed absolutely for the future and if we can get something this season fine.
Liked his positioning in his limited time played, even if he misses -if he instinctively knows where to run (I believe he does) he will hit also.
Quite happy for him to go on loan.
This is a player I`m fine with the management deciding rather than fan opinions, they will work with him, and know how he is really doing.
I like this signing!

If we have a striker who has instinct and knows where to run and knows where the goal is I’d much rather he plays on Saturday for us than out on loan.
Beggars and choosers and all that.

Boys been scoring goals for fun in League 2, we have to find a system to play him in, alongside Kane preferably.
Gets him familiar with Championship football quicker whilst making an impact.
Can’t be great for his development if the plan is to sign him and not put him in a starting role for the rest of the season.
He should start on Saturday for me.
I’d go with:
Tobi
Comrie
Mullen
Bene
Ngwenya
Otoo
Wotherspoon
Stevens
MOH
Kane
Young

We’ve loaned out 2 strikers, so very unlikely to loan out Connor Young. I do think a front 2, alongside Chris Kane, would be interesting!

If we played 4-4-2 with some of the suggestions above we would get torn to shreds through the middle. We are bad enough with 3 midfielders in there let alone 2

And just out of interest for the younger posters this afternoon I have been watching
51 Andy smith goals for Dunfermline athletic in 10 minutes on you tube.
Oh for a team to play generally 4-4-2 with 2 wingers and overlapping full backs just getting the ball into the box for an centre forward/s who knew the ball would come in and generally be there or thereabouts when it did come in and mainly decent EXCITING football with loads of efforts on goal and goals.
Not the over coached crap we are enduring now and for the last few years.

Yes, he had some VERY good offers in Scotland and further afield, which he knocked back because he felt this was the best place to come for his career. He was getting offered more money and the likelihood of UEFA Champions League experience every season

I suppose if he had joined TNS then `certainty` might have been better, but he could have easily joined one of the 2 Irish teams that enquired , which takes it to `likelihood`.....

Agree if we’re going to play 442 to accommodate young we’ll need a better partner for otoo than wotherspoon.
Unless the young loans hit the ground running I don’t think we can play 442.
