He says he’s still feeling his calf but should be back for next week.
I wouldn’t count on it with next 2 away games both on Astro.

Kane is going to miss so many games for us before the end of the season.
I really hope we’re exploring the options of someone else in on loan because Young has only just made the step up to full time, Yeboah has shown no sign of scoring, McCann couldn’t hit a barn door we are replay lacking anything upfront.

Hard one but is it worth moving kane on in the summer. Missing more and more games as the seasons go by maybe worth getting someone in who doesn`t have the injury issues.

He`s not exactly a prolific striker and a fair whack of his goals have been penalties. I`d keep him though if we manage to get rid of Wighton and some others. Decent at holding the ball up and a good choice if playing 2 up front. I don`t think he`s much good being left on his own though, but neither would Haaland or the more expensive Kane in this team.

Valid point, it seems to be a few different injuries he’s having now. We really need a reliable striker or 2 who can be available most weeks, while he’s good when he plays if far too often.
Given the situation we are in we are missing him big time as there is no suitable replacement.

Kanes scored 5 goals this season in 15 games - 3 of which came against the Rovers from the spot and a wayward shot deflecting off of him - its not prolific and he’s certainly injury prone.
Would look at replacing him next year.

Is Kane not under contract for another year? If he didn`t have any injury issues he`d probably still be playing in the Premiership.

And this is with Kane having a tailored preseason regime which effectively wrapped him in cotton wool.
I think we should move him on but he’s got another year so I’d consider us very lucky if someone would cover his wage to play 15 starts a season and even then he’s only got 60mins in him.
Comrie back is good, gives us another midfield option with Hamilton, perhaps we need to try dropping some of those play every week regardless of performance like otoo.

This is our only home game in March with 3 hard away games so we really need to get 3 points considering our away record.

If he was scoring every week he wouldn`t be here either but unfortunately it's bits and maybes aren't reality. What is the reality is he is injury prone and he isn`t exactly prolific when he does play.

Exactly my point if he isn`t injured he is struggling to score goals from open play in the championship. I doubt he will get another premiership gig due to 1) his injury status 2) he doesn`t score enough when he plays.

All these points are true but he does so much more for the team when he plays.
He harasses the defence and keeper, he wins fouls, his hold up play is good and while he seems to score mainly penalties who’s the one winning them….him.
When he doesn’t play we lose so much and practically have nothing up top.
A Kane and Young partnership would work wonders i feel and in playing the two Kane would have some help up top and perhaps injuries MAY be fewer.

Agree but my point is how unreliable he is. We can`t really be going through the fixture list and guessing what games he will be playing and knowing games where he won`t feature. He is an important player for us but is it because he is the best of a bad bunch?

Totally agree Cammypar. He misses more than he plays and that’s the issue.
If we could move him on in the summer and get a few new strikers in then I’m all for it.
Tbh if he stays or not next season we are still going to need a while new frontline as most will be away due to being out of contract.

I posted in December that , since 2016, Chris Kane had missed 89 games through illness or injury. He has added to that number since. While I like him as a player, as a club we cannot afford to rely on players who only play so few games.

Makes a huge difference to our general play as well. The number of soft free kicks he won to relieve pressure, the fact our players look to see where he is rather than just hitting aimless balls to nobody, he gives the centre backs something to think about and actually do during a game... amazes me some folk don`t rate him.

In his post-match interview on COWS MT says he had a word with Chris and persuaded him to be part of the squad today despite not having trained much during the week. Considering he has this recurring issue with his calves I`m always amazed at his total commitment. It would be easy for him to hang back a bit but he never shirks a challenge.

I noticed that when the final whistle went he immediately sat down in the centre circle and stated doing stretching exercises, so I guess he had taken himself to the limit in the time he was on the pitch.

He can do what he needs to do to make himself available for Saturdays IMO.
If that means less training during the week or whatever we need to have him available Saturdays if we are to stay up.

I previously mentioned in a different post, that Ledley King at Spurs used to lead his training sessions focused on cycling and swimming. He engaged in no ball work throughout the week yet consistently emerged as a standout performer on Saturdays. Despite his knee injury limiting his efforts, he still managed to play on match days.
I believe we should consider a similar approach for Kane, particularly as the season draws to a close. Tidser noted in his interview that he hadn’t trained this week, yet he entered the game and delivered a brilliant performance. For me, we should do whatever it takes to maintain his fitness; as long as he is able to play on Saturdays, our team transforms significantly with him leading the attack.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. It`s not to say the others are bad footballers. Kane has that knack, a bit of factor. Other clubs love when his name isn`t on the sheet. Like Dylan Easton for raith. His goals today were excellent but I was well encouraged with how he was with scoring them. He looked delighted.
