Mone the TOOOOOON! Far to long without a trophy for such a massive club. All this ffp crap holding us back too. The club is minted but can`t buy anybody, sooooo frustrating.

Extra time with both teams down to 10. Marginal offside decision against Toon in added time. Pretty entertaining game.

It’s been a good game. Brighton have so many good attacking midfielders. Could we borrow a couple ?

A great day out for Brighton fans! I thought they just edged it and was a wee bit disappointed with Newcastle considering what was at stake.

Newcastle are rubbish at home sometimes. I`d rather the game was in Brighton.

A Brighton v Villa final would be brilliant. Two, fantastic teams

It`s the owner of the club that`s minted. Not the club itself ;)

Seems mental to me that in England they don`t treat competitions as separate entities for disciplinary purposes. Players getting sent off in one competition shouldn`t affect their availability in another. Think the last cup final Newcastle were in they were also impacted as their keeper was sent off in a league game and missed the final?

Yup. Pope got a bonkers red v Liverpool, and dubravka wasn`t available (injured) so they had to play Karius.

Are all red cards in England punished by a three-game ban? Gordon`s was said to be for `violent conduct` which might make a difference. It seemed no more than a push to me.

I`m not quite sure what I`m comparing this to, so it might be irrelevant, but I remember Barry Ferguson getting sent off in a Scottish Cup game at East End (must be about 25 years ago now). I think that was a straight red and he served his suspension in a league game before reappearing against us in the replay.
