Which suggests that Lanza John is getting the job ?
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

The players should be embarrassed, appalling against raith, clearly did not want to be there
Having g said that the managers was struggling porr inherited players and not good jan signings, players hold your head low and don`t look anyone in the face

Just about to go on holiday and I’d vowed to stay off social media till while away.
I’ve some sympathy for him, but I was prepared to give a young, ambitious but inexperienced manager the chance. It doesn’t need data analysis software to show he was struggling.
Maybe the timing, at this stage of the season, with our league position and players low on confidence, and 7? new players coming in, it was a big ask for anyone - but his tactics were brutal. I’ve never seen fans turn on a manager so quickly and starting to blame the players for not following instructions… jeez.
I’d give the job to the end of the season to those coaches, not sure why Geordie (we’ve not got the right players for a fight”) is still there, but JMcL had a short but fairly successful time, while Wotherspoon knows the players, and has great experience at a much higher level.
Do I feel more optimistic we’ll get 8th? Depends on the Board’s decision….

He was completely lost and at sea during the Raith game, pictures showed that, utterly defeated.
Add that to chucking players under the bus, a generally stubborn and arrogant attitude, continuation of McPake`s failed and utterly toothless style, calling that style the right "philosophy" whilst staring relegation in the face, it`s no wonder he lost the support early doors.
Hopefully he`ll learn from it.
I don`t wanna go down like disco.

I could be wrong but from the outside looking in I think he lost the dressing room. The players absolutely need to hang their heads in shame as it’s the fans that always suffer with issues like this. Again, I could be wrong but just get that impression. I’d love McCabe in but would imagine it’ll be either Murray, Kettlewell or Davidson. I’d take Davidson in that case. Never thought I’d say this but I wouldn’t be opposed to Dick Campbell either. He always seems to get a lift out of teams that are in freefall. That would just be a short term solution though.

Davidson is a big no from me, just another McPake and Tidser.
Kettlewell is the one for me although I’d also take Murray.

I have no sympathy for Tidser by the way. Arrogantly persisted with a style of football that clearly wasn’t going to work with that group of players. His own stubbornness and unwillingness to adapt to his situation saw him fail. He could have went back to how Lanza had us playing, he could have tried something else but chose not to.

Wayne Rooney ..Kidding
I don`t think Davidson is the answer, I am not sure who is BUT we have a massive summer ahead and NEED to get this right!

It will be interesting to see how we approach this, do we let John manage the team for the remainder of the season, definitely a viable option, proven he can get a tune out of the team and arguably best bet of staying up.
Alternatively the sooner we get a manager in the sooner he can cast his eye over the players and be ready for the next transfer window which we need to be on the front foot with.

IMO the right decision
I`d like Lanza John to be in charge for the remainder of the season if he is willing.
(Now might be a good time to try a win bonus if there is not already one in place.)

For all the people who are saying John can get "a tune" out of the players, we can only hope that this is still the case. My worry is that the confidence and motivation levels are now so low that any manager would struggle to lift them in the games remaining.

I personally think we need a freshen up and get someone else in who can give the players a lift.
I know I sound like a broken record in here but Kettlewell would be a massive coup for us given where we are and that should boost the players confidence.

Pars were in a pretty bad place before John took over and did well, he can do it again in reasonably confident.
There were a couple of factors that made John successful in his short term, he’s a genuinely decent bloke who got on well with the players and had the softer skills to be able to manage the team dynamics.
Secondly - he let them off their leash a bit and let them play in a style that they enjoyed and in turn got the best out of.

I live in the west of Scotland and can assure you we are not a laughing stock but there is a sense of bewilderment as to our background staff perform as well as the team on the pitch.

Berry nails it.
We don`t have time for a new manager. Lets stick with what we have & what works in the short term.
We need to shift through the gears & really go for it in the last 7 games.
Lets give it a right good go.......
“.........it ain’t over till the Pars score!”

The club update says -
`Dunfermline Athletic can confirm the departure of Head Coach Michael Tidser.
Assistant Head Coach Kevin McDonald, along with John McLaughlan and first team player David Wotherspoon will take training in the interim period.
Chairman and CEO David Cook commented, “Clearly this has been a difficult spell for the club and our supporters. We wish Michael all the best and thank him for his efforts while Head Coach.
We are now working on making an appointment to help us maintain our league status.”
Further updates will be issued in due course.`
The fact that it states that McDonald, McLaughlan and Wotherspoon `will take training in the interim period` and they are working to appoint someone `to maintaln our league status` suggests to me that they would like someone in place before the Ayr game.

Have to agree with you wee eck, they may be in charge of training for a few days but that’ll be it.
Hopefully we are already is discussions with managers with a view to get a replacement in place in the next few days.

He didn`t, though. The issue was that he had no idea what plan B was - and that transmitted across to the players.

There is no excuse for the players to lack motivation. It`s not as if we`re miles behind. We`re just 1 measly point away from 8th, and it`s still in our own hands as we`ve yet to play Hamilton again.
They need to look in the mirror and get a bloody grip of themselves. They`re a bunch of pampered prats.
They`re probably going to need a large carrot in the guise of bonus for staying up to motivate them.

It does look like we`ll appoint someone. Can the club please actually interview the top candidates to make sure their philosophy isn`t just to "play football the right way". Which as proven by our last few managers is a load of nonsense.
Utilise the players in whatever system suits them the best and find a way to churn out enough results to finish 8th. We have enough decent players in the squad and arguably the best striker in the division, find a way to score goals.
