I hope not unless it`s someone the board (or Bord?) already had their eye on. We can`t have yet another appointment who is a failure.

No point in rushing it as it is vital we get this right. We don`t have a game on Saturday so let`s make sure we get the right man in to keep us up.

Whoever it may be I hope we don`t rush into offering out another multi year deal. It would seem prudent to offer something until the end of the season with a significant bonus for keeping us up, or an automatically triggered extension should they manage that.

Totaly agree regards the timeframe.
Timeframe : 7 games
Target : Keep us in the Championship
Thats all that should be on the table.

If I was a manager out of work I wouldn`t risk coming in for 7 games. If I come in and don`t save the club from relegation, I get a relegation on my CV with a squad of players who don`t score goals, have low confidence and only 7 games left.

Surely it’s win win for who ever comes in no?
If they keep us up, they’ll potentially earn themselves a contract for next season and if we get relegated it’ll be a case of the previous manager can get the blame.
Realistically I think we’ll stay up now we’ve got rid of Tidser, I think well finish 8th as a minimum.
I’m more confident heading into our remaining home games with Tidser out the equation and points in they games will be enough for us to finish at least 8th.
Obviously I’d like to pick up some points on the road too, but home form is where our survival lies.

Why on earth would we have someone new in the door by this weekend? We’ve not got a match for a start but the club have already advised us that the three people named are in place for the time being.
I want the club to take their time, interview good potential candidates, and have a new manager in place for the new season, wherever we end up.

The club said they will take training, no mention of an interim manager.
I say this weekend as it’ll give the new manager a week with the team heading into the Ayr game.
I’d rather get someone in and keep us in the Championship, it’s in our hands and should be getting someone in to lift the squad for the remaining games.
The fact we have a whole rebuild taking place in the summer it’s important to stay in Championship to be able to attract a better quality of player, not many players will want to drop down to League One.

Surely though the more time the new person has with the squad before our next game the better?
Not saying due diligence shouldn`t be completed but we need to get a shift on.

That’s my thinking Connor560, no point waiting 2 weeks and bringing someone in next Friday, for example, the day before a huge game.
It will be a massive game especially if Hamilton get beat this weekend, we could go a point ahead of Hamilton with a win and then 2 home games against Livi and Hamilton.
We need to give ourselves the best opportunity.
Still can’t see past Kettlewell coming in.

Buffy I think Lanza John would keep us up, I also believe Murray would too. Kettlewell maybe. Things aren’t all that bad, if the team are played in the right system and well motivated (a decent staying up bonus slapped on the table) we can stay up. The squad isn’t great but it can win a few games (Airdrie and Hamilton for starters) and a playoff if needed.
I feel a lot more positive we can pull off survival now Tidser is gone. We need to hand the reigns to someone capable though.

Agree with the last 2 posts, I just think we have to concentrate on our stronger areas
There`s no doubt we are extremely poor in some areas, but that`s the cards we`ve got, I`m also aware the caretakers were brought in to do other jobs, and will be happy when they get to do that.
I think we will scrape some results, but if we don`t? Well the damage was done before the season started and we never recovered.

I think the best move would be to ask JMcL if he would take the team to the end of the season? He know the players well and has already taken the team for three games.
If we get a new manager, he’s not going to hit the ground running like John can.

I thought you meant Jim Leishman there.
That said, I think he is the only one in the last 50 years or more to come in mid-season and save us.
Maybe not the only one, Pat Stanton?

I am with you Raymie, if Lanza John wants the role.
If he saves us then he would earn legend status as we are total mince just now and to turn us into being able to score will be a fantastic feat.

The club statement about Michael Tidser`s departure makes it pretty clear that the intention is to have a new head coach in place for the run-in. The `Three Amigos` are only charged with supervising training.

I was going to say “act in haste, repent at leisure” with regard to Tidser’s appointment, but it may be that it was long in the planning. I’m not sure if that’s any better.
We’ve got ourselves in a right mess.
What we need now is pretty much instant results.
I’m not sure a short-term hire is right – even if you could persuade someone to take the role on a temporary basis, there would be the problem of retaining them (or not). I think Jimmy Calderwood took a couple of short-term gigs (Killie and Ross County?) but one was probably shorter than he wanted. Someone of his calibre and experience would be an option but I’m not sure there are many candidates.
(And of course Leishman managed his Houdini act in 2005 – two great games and one awful one). (See the above link)
But taking a longer term view may be worse – it could take 2 or 3 games for a new manager to run the rule of his players, and then you are into the end of season carnage when pressure is high and tolerance and patience are lacking.
Basically we’re looking at 2 different things – getting the best out of the existing squad, squeezing out a few results and staying up on the one hand, and developing the club longer term (through the owners’ data analytics or whatever) on the other. It doesn’t follow that being good at one means you are good at the other (a mistake we have made before).
I think the best idea is to go with what we’ve got – existing coaches and senior players. Make a couple of tactical changes but otherwise keep it simple. Don`t fill their heads with mince. Get the ball forward, faster. Take some shots at goal. Look like you’re trying – the fans will respond.
However, all signs are we’re not going to do that.

Up until recently, I thought we’d be ok and that Hamilton and Airdrie were worse, that confidence went under Tidser but I do think, with the right man in charge, that probably is the case.
I’m not sure about LJ until the end of the season or getting a gaffer in, but what I will say is, the right choice has a chance of being successful imho.
