Strong rumours of this in the west, but who knows.

If he can get a tune out of these players that will be good.

How does the bookies even make up these odds. Do they just go by rumours and chatter on social media or do they actually have inside information into who we are speaking to?.

He should have happy memories of EEP. He scored three goals for Celtic and two of them were at EEP.

Rumours then odds change quickly especially at our level when money is put on someone as there won’t be that many bets!

I`m not sure I`m as positive as others.

His managerial record is checkered at best - he`s won the odd trophy, but I don`t class winning trophies with Celtic as particularly difficult, and they fluffed their lines horribly when going for 10 in a row, to a woeful Rangers team with a woeful manager.

He won the Championship with Hibs, which, again, IMO isn`t a big deal, and has had checkered spells with Bolton, Omonia and Rapid Bucharest.

That said, his spell at Bolton did start very well - they leapt up the league when he joined, so maybe he`d be OK in the short term, but I`m not a huge fan of the appointment,

At the end of the day hes a serial winner in scotland, and we need a winner to guide us, i think he`d be a good appointment, a manager who would garner respect from the boys

These markets are more PR exercises than an attempt to make a book.

You`d start with the most likely types and take it from there, they`ll have significant stake restrictions on a market like this but the fact that Lennon is in front of the more likelier types of Kettlewell, Murray and Davidson suggests they must have seen some money for him. 6/4 the last time I checked would suggest that money so far isn`t from a respected account.

I would take Lennon, decent name and similar to Scott brown would set high standards both on and off the pitch.

I’m just not sure who would want it? Another window like January and it doesn’t matter who your manager is it will continue to be a struggle.

As said above this is a small market for a bit of fun from a small bookie; sure from previous experience it`s even closed overnight as they don`t have staff onto monitor it thus don`t want left exposed if someone makes a big wager and the market suddenly changes.

I`m sure even £30 ish on someone and you`d see a change in the prices.

Outwith that i cannot see Lennon being interested given our position and the whole data driven methodology. He`s old school and strikes me as the polar opposite of that type of approach but we shall see !

From what I heard about Tidser he didn`t suffer fools gladly and would be on the players backs for any perceived lack of effort. That never worked with our players, I doubt Lennon is too dissimilar in that respect

If Lennon does come then he will need some level of control over deals. Cant leave it up to analytics. A 16 month deal would be the ideal case too, even if we did go down. But that might be the deal breaker.

Lennon got a struggling Hibernian promoted from the Championship and then onto a Europa League spot. My biggest concern is his appalling record in 2024 at Rapid Bucharest. Sacked after 6 games in charge.

In those six matches, he drew five and lost one, suffering only a single defeat. I believe Neil Lennon is an extraordinary appointment for us, exemplifying the type of ambition we desire from the new ownership. This also demonstrates the financial resources they possess for this club and their eagerness to invest in the team. I am very impressed by their actions; I only wish this had been done on the initial occasion pre Tidser.

I’m not sure we understand just how much money is about to be gambled by our owners on the pars. If their analytic thing works they will sell that for 100’s of millions. Therefore they need a case study club. We are that club. Lennon ( never mind his wage) will be signing 4 or 5 premier league players and accepting a 30 player squad of analytic buys. Our wage bill will be mid table premier league to get us up there. Even if we went down it will be the same. Enjoy the ride folks.

I’ll reserve casting an opinion on whether Lennon will work out but if we get him, that is indeed some signing of intent from the Board.

Used to despise Lennon as a player, but equally someone I’d loved to have had in my team.

Think it’s fair to say we as a club have been for a long time a soft touch, no needle, we never do the dirty side of the game which we ought to try and do to be effective.

Lennon & Brown mastered that as players and to see some of that rub off onto the team would be a plus in itself.

I’m still not for the data analytics, not for us who will still be fishing in a relatively small pool of players. If we want Lennon to be successful he ought to have the opportunity to build his own team and trust in his experience over data dumps.

He will be excited to bring in some of his own. You only need a core of 4 in a team and then he can enjoy the chance to have a squad around his trusted ones.
He knows how to get out of this league we will be box office in our small pond.

Aye when he back tracked after his interview after the Hamilton match it gave the impression that he was a bit of a sheyt bag and I can only imagine it’s made the players think oh wait a second we can give a p!ds poor effort and the worst we will get is shouted at in the dressing room

Well, it looks like the new owners are not scared of throwing some money at a problem, which has got to be some kind of good sign.

I`m a bit worried about the schizophrenia manifested by the same people thinking that Michael Tidser and Neil Lennon are the answer to the same problem though.

That’s a very interesting point. It’s the opposite ends of the managerial spectrum.
Would that suggest that Tidser was a “local” choice and Lennon is now the choice of the owners?

The only real challenge I see with Lennon is I get the feeling our team is rather delicate, and whilst he has mellowed since his playing career he’s not going to be going down the soft route so will be interesting how the young squad take to that.

On the deal stated elsewhere, can’t see Lennon coming in for nothing with a bonus incentive. There will be a bonus I’m sure, may be a short term deal as well as opportunity for Lennon to back in the shopping window for bigger offers and we’ll negotiate a longer term deal if we can after the seasons ended.

If we were able to secure him for a longer period then that’s a win in my book.

I`m sitting on the fence on this one. I only know the guy from what I see on the telly. Seems like a good communicator and motivator and says it how it is. Clearly vastly experienced. As for his achievements at Celtic and Hibs - good but par for the course? Career a bit chequered other than that. Bolton?
With him being a bit older I`m hoping the pissy, passy philosophy isn`t quite as ingrained in him as it seems to be in the younger generation of coaches. Fingers crossed it goes well.

Regardless of people`s opinion of Neil Lennon he is a winner and we don`t have anyone at the club with that mentality and he definitely won`t put up with people not pulling their weight even if it`s only his winner mentality that rubs off on players we will be in a better place soon

I’ve always been in the minority with Lennon as I’ve always liked his character. I constantly see myself defending him against my mates! He is a born winner and I’m of the feeling that if he can’t kept us up, no one can. He struggled in his last job, was ok with Omonia, successful in Scotland and was dealt a difficult hand at Bolton as players were not paid their wages during his time there.

Hopefully this works and we can rebuild in the summer. If this appointment doesn’t give the players a boost, nothing will.

I’ve met him a few times over the years (post match interviews) at both Celtic Park and EEP; thoroughly nice bloke and I’m sure long term he’d do a good job for us.

If it is confirmed then I’d prefer it if the club were to put him in place start of the new season, with Kevin, John and David taking the reins until then, under his leadership.

If he somehow gets us to 8th it’s a masterstroke, same if he keeps us up via the playoffs I guess. It’s that bad that surely he’ll be able to get this team to pick up tools again?

Not got much time to turn a team of losers into a team capable of fighting for everything though. Espech given it’s pretty certain noice out of contract will be staying.

If he comes in and does the business you would be keen for him to stay and be able to bring some decent players in, hopefully he’s got a good network and a decent budget as he won’t have done much business at our level.

All appointments are a risk and I’ve no idea how this will work out if appointed, but as said before, if he can instil half of his winning, combative, never give up attitude then we’ll turn this corner and it could be a great success.
Unlike poster above, I was seriously considering not bothering with season ticket next year… but if we appoint him, then will defo renew

I simply can`t support this appointment and I will not renew my season ticket next year if he is the manager/Head Coach

Why?

Even if he does get the job he’ll be away in the summer. I’d imagine it’s just a short term appointment to try and get us to safety.

I think it will be until the summer with an option of further 2 if he keeps us up!

Buffy, do you want us to have any chance of staying up or are you happy for us to keep playing as we are and just accept 9th/10th place?

Get him in now and lift the mood around the place, this type of manger will give the players a massive boost I’d imagine and help us kick on.

Why on earth would he wait till the end of the season?

Lanza John doesn’t want the job.
MacDonald still has question marks against him IMO
Wotherspoon just isn’t the answer.

They three may be able to take training and do some drills, obviously LJ got the team playing well and picked up 4 valuable points.

I fancy our chances of staying up more with Lennon in charge then they 3 and that’s me no way disrespecting them but we need to give ourself a chance and lift the mood and players belief, a new face and Lennon should do it.

Ahoy Ahoy, c`mon min, Buffy clearly doesn`t want us to go down, I think her service to the club and it`s fans speak volumes if her intent.
What she suggested is a fiscally sensible suggestion, no need to be so antagonistic.

I don`t wanna go down like disco.

Well agree to disagree 😉

I don’t see how letting the interim team get the resting the season helps us.

Lanza John clearly doesn’t want the job so why put that on him, MacDonald is a coach and Wotherspoon is an experienced player yes but we need more for this survival push.

Lennon gives us that.

Of course you disagree Ahoy, that seems to be your intent.

You make assumptions about people’s opinions without actually reading the whole context.

For example, you ignored this part.
“…..under his leadership

Dandy is correct, as always.

Well can I ask you think we have a better chance of staying up with 2 coaches and a player at the helm than an experienced manager?

Hearing it might only be to the end of the season. I would prefer Lennon was here for the long term.

I didn`t like Neil Lennon as a player or manager at Celtic and Hibs, but I`d be happy to welcome him to EEP.

PLZ soccer confirming it`s done deal now on Twitter.

He`s close pals with Peter Martin who runs that so would give it more credibility than usual stuff on there.

What would be the point in him coming in and telling them what to do, when he could be doing it himself?

Seems a bizarre way to look at things.

Think about it in the long term, Ahoy.

We could make a big fuss over his appointment as manager at say the open day, shirt signings, sponsorship meetings etc. ticket sales might get a boost with his player and managerial experience (and contacts). The club needs a definite boost of good things and if we were to stay up (or even not) it would help, imo, at that time.

It’s just a suggestion. Nae need to greet into yer Rice Krispies

Not sure how many fans would be up for all that in League One tbh. Ticket sales will be down etc….we’d attract a Lower class of player. We don’t have the luxury of waiting we need to act now and thankfully the board seem to agree.

Me personally I want him in ASAP and leading the troops into games with him on the sidelines.
