 Aaron Comrie
Topic Originator: coventrypar

His form has been inconsistent in the last few weeks. For a player that has pretty much always been a 7 or 8 out of 10 ( for the job he is asked to do)....

Has his change in form come about because:
(a) He is out of contract in the summer and knows he has offers
(b) Change in tactics/style not suiting him
(c) Can`t be arsed `cos his team mates seemingly cant be
(d) We signed for a fee Keith Bray on a 4.5 year deal

Think it’s just hard to play well when the rest of the team isn’t.

Haven’t seen any real change in work ethic and he’s not the sort of player who would down tools. Would love to have him next season still competing with Bray.

Bray can also play on the wing too.

I’d personally like Comrie to sign up again but depends what other offers he has, he might feel like a change is needed.

The tea lady?
The match announcer?

Leave Aaron alone. He’s a good player.

He had a stinker on Saturday but it wasn`t down to lack of effort. I`m sure he`ll still play on Wednesday. Let`s see how he does.

I`m not blaming him or any one player for us being currently very poor. I named him as potentially a MOTM a few weeks back Buffy .... It is because he is becoming inconsistent when he has played c150 games prior to the last few weeks as Mr Consistent.

At what point can asking why we might think a player is out of form blaming anyone. I can blame Bene for making a crap pass on Saturday - he cost a goal and not the game. There were 90 other minutes in the game.

Inverness fans reckon Bray is better further forward so Comrie could still have a part to play if he stays. It`s hard as a full back shunted out to wing back and expected to make things happen, even more so when there`s zero movement ahead of you.

Genuinely wouldn’t think he’s the type of guy to down tools. His performances have been consistent when everyone else around him has been poor. He probably did have a stinker at the weekend but certainly over the last 3 seasons, he’s been our most consistent performer. 7 out of 10 95% of the time is better than 9/10 once every 3 months

I love comrie but I think he`s one of these players that reflect the team ie good in a good team, bang average in a bad team. I think technically he leaves a lot to be desired and doesn`t offer much attacking wise. Defensively sound, usually available and gives 100%, he`s been a good servant for us.

I wouldn`t be adverse to keeping him but if we stay up and the owners are serious about getting to the prem you`ve got to think there`s better out there than comrie. Think he`d be a great squad player to have though.

One of the best we have . If only the rest of them had his work ethic .
Few would get a new contract before him, IMO

Hes a right back so first and foremost he needs to defend - which he mainly does with no issue. Consistency at this level is hard to come by for most players so to keep being consistent from him is very good. He’s never going to be a TAA or Kyle Walker, but Id say he’s been consistently better than most RBs we’ve had over the last 10 years or so.

If anything, his distribution could have been better on Saturday. Certainly couldn’t fault his effort though.

Aaron Comrie is one of the few players who have performed at a decent level throughout the season.

Even when played out of position as a wing back he never hides, despite not being the best in the final third.

He is a good right back at this level.

Comrie at RB and Bray RM is a solid partnership.
But I feel Comrie has been lined up already and will sign for another club next season…don’t blame him tbh with all the turmoil that has happened.

I love AC think he has been our most consistent player over the years and been a great servant. I’m sure I heard somewhere that he was voted the best RB in the league. Many would love to have him. I hope he’s still with us next season and beyond.

It has to be Chris Kane, surely? Without his goals, we would probably be bottom of the league by miles.

Had a stinker at the weekend but so did half of the team. We`ve conceded the same as Morton and one more than Raith this season but have scored the joint least goals this season, that`s where the issue lies this season. Comrie is one of only 2 players at `peak` age in our squad (27-30), would be a very easy win to get him signed up for another couple years.

I would agree A.C. all day long followed by Kane and Mullin who have both been excellent in the lower number of games played.

I think if I was voting for a POTY I’d go for Kane by default. We’d probably have no points if it wasn’t for his goals!

If we are ever going to get out of this league at the right end of the table, we need better than Comrie who is limited in ability although by no means the worst. Kane also spends far too many games on the sidelines so cannot be relied upon, especially when our other strikers are rotten. If we survive this season, we need to do better than both of them, and recruit many others if we are ever going to progress.

You make it sound so easy. Let`s hope we have a limitless budget to put your plan into operation. By the way, Kane`s under contract for next season is he not?

Kanes played in 23 out of the 30 games so far in the league.

McCann has played 27 games out the 30.

Kanes hardly injury prone, he struggled mostly due to no chances being created.

I never said anywhere it was easy, though Falkirk seem to have found a way. We have a lot out of contract and need to replace them with better than what we have. We didn`t do that in January, Mullen excepted. The new owners have shown they are willing to spend, otherwise we wouldn`t have Lennon and Victor. Limitless budget are your words however, not mine.

Successful Pars` squads in the past have been full of solid, `journeyman` pros like Aaron Crombie. A few outstanding players in creative positions would work wonders for overall confidence and inspire the players around them.

Hope we extend his contract, a player who is not out of place in the league above.

A good `journeyman` I often feel journeyman sounds negative, but it`s the core of any team, usually not noticed the same, and anyone that can play FT for 10 years or so is a good player.

Can`t blame him if he`s pre signed for another team, he`s getting to the stage where financial security is key, plus that`s a few years of chaos, and he`s been in the thick of it. Hopefully the new broom will be the end of that

I wouldn’t class Comrie as a journeyman either. He’s was at St Johnstone for the start of his career, has a couple loan spells and been at us for 6/7 years.

An experienced player yes but certainly not a journeyman.

Yes, I disagree you need a "limitless budget" to be successful in this league.
You just have to be contrary all the time.
