 Cheating in football

I can`t alone in being sick of seeing professional footballers falling down clutching their faces, ankles, knees etc at the slightest touch. Tonight watching the Real Madrid/Barcelona game, at least twice there was players falling down covering their face like Mike Tyson has smashed them square in the face. I am old enough to remember the 60`s and 70`d where players would be embarrassed to act like this. Soon football will become a non-contact sport 😞

It’s crept into the game over the last ten years. Nothing is being done to stamp it out. It spoils the beautiful game.

It`s bloody tough being a legend

I’m at the point where I know I’m getting old. There’s lots about the modern game that annoys me, and this is one of those things. Players know the game needs to be stopped for a head knock, so it’s the first thing they grab when doing it.

It used to be that players were told to leave the pitch for treatment for anything other than a head knock, but nowadays players just sit down indicating they want treatment and the ref waves the physio on. When did this change?

Yesterday how many times did Airdrie hold onto the ball/kick it away after the ref had given a decision against them. Even their bench was at it. If the decision goes against you leave the ball alone.

Easy to officiate - Tell both teams that you’ll book the first player that does it.

On the other hand, in our Championship league, it certainly is a contact sport and some of the continual fouling that players get way with is ridiculous. The Partick Thistle last week was a case in point. How many fouls did Partick players commit before the referee took any action and when he did take action, he started booking our players for trifles, after Thistle players had kicked lumps out of them. Too many teams in our league adopt the brutal strong-arm tactics and get away with it.

Waste of time at the top level with VAR. There are 2 evils and I would prefer an improved technology solution which without a shadow of a doubt has reduced play acting
