Strange timing. I wonder if Falkirk were happy with that.

Surely not. Surely any man with any character and professionalism about him whatsoever would have just said to any potential suitors, "I`m sorry, as you know we have our biggest game in years in 2 days time. I will be interested in the job and hearing what you have to say but not until after that game has taken place. I`ve got a job to do this week that needs my full attention". You would think that response would have been acceptable to any potential employer

All that aside. I don`t think he`s got the chops for that job, and I think most, if not all, jambo fans would agree.

That’s who they should go for IMHO, however I’d think he’d be in the conversation to replace Steve Clarke at the end of this campaign

Undoubtly mcglynn is a bawbag but he’s earned this chance if it comes. His teams are always committed and do enough of the dirty stuff as well as no shortage of ability. He knows the attributes he’s looking for when signings players.
It’s a massive job compared to Falkirk though, he’ll be relying on others for signing players next year unless he hits the ground running and it’s a massive step up in terms of the profile and coaching expected etc.
Would be interesting to see how he gets on. Really screws falkirk over too.

Caretaker a couple of times, then the manager in 2012.
Obviously believes in a certain way of playing and it`s been really successful.
I doubt he and his assistant would be afforded the time to implement it at Hearts however.

cant stand falkirk but got to give john mcglynn credit where its due he got abused for years by falkirk fans for not getting out div one then he does it unbeaten then wins championship with virtually same players except for few new ones with small budget if pars could have held on to some players that left when we got promoted im sure we would have done lot better

`...if pars could have held on to some players that left when we got promoted I`m sure we would have done lot better`.
Which ones, donnie? O`Hara, McDonald and Todorov all ended up at Hamilton and they`ll be in League 1 next season.
You`ve got to give credit to John McGlynn. We (including James McPake) used to mock his post-match interviews and penguin impressions when we were in League 1 but he`s had the last laugh.

They hit the ground running off the back of the undefeated campaign, high in confidence and went on from there.
We never really seemed to get going in a similar way although i think we lost Todd and KRH in preseason (maybe wrong?) which didn`t help.
Still very impressive so fair play to them. Always liked the way they played this season, two ball winners in the middle and they consistently get the ball moved up the park wide and early to the players who can hurt you.
Getting Morrison out the door when it looked like he could have been a disruptive influence and then getting in Arfield was some bit of business too.
Thought they were/are a bit suspect at centre back but they`ll be confident they can score more than they conceed against the likes Dundee, Ross County etc especially at home.
Maybe mellowing with age but i don`t particularly have any ill feeling towards them.
Definitely deserved it overall; maybe it`s because they don`t have any instantly unlikeable players in the arsehole mode like some of their successful teams of the past in the likes of Liam Craig, Tam Scobbie, Andy Rodgers etc who you could tell absolutely hated us.

Definitely mellowing. I have real feeling towards them as a club, not necessarily the supporters, but they have been a horrible lot for a generation and I don’t see any change. I am older but I have real issues with them that aren’t mine.

It`s basically one of those rare freak occurrences. A bit like what Leicester did but against vastly inferior teams.
I`ll never congratulate them. Too many Norrie songs for me to forgive.
I`ll congratulate the manager and the players that aren`t complete tools but the fans, nope.
Hopefully they break the record for lowest points tally next season.

Agree in part TAFKA but think their squad is very weak at the back and up top. Midfield looks pretty decent but you aren`t going to keep many clean sheets with Hogarth in goals and Lang and Donaldson ahead of him. Up front, McIvor has done well and is a good option but he won`t score many and they`ve also got the likes of Oliver signed up for next year. They`ll be relying on the midfield chipping in with goals and while Arfield scored a good number once he signed, it was noticeable how much they missed Callumn Morrison once he left. I don`t see thst as a Premiership squad, so hopefully they either fail to build a decent squad or fill it with duds and they come back down with a record low points total.

Personally, I can only admire McGlynn’s achievement …. Perhaps there are some other managers who will adopt some of the more positive attributes that his sides have used to significant effect (both Rovers & Falkirk).
Totally get the difficulty in pars fans applauding Falkirk’s success, but think all of us recognise that there are sections of our own support that are toxic and are not a fair reflection of the majority of pars fans … don’t know if I’ll ever see us move on from that? But it would be tragic (my view at least) if we allowed the toxicity of the ugly sisters to become embedded in the club I’ve supported for 50-odd years (there was a time when nobody I knew thought that playing Falkirk was ‘a derby’ … I still don’t, think it is just a grudge match).

It should be played beautifully.”

Sadly I think McGlynn will recruit quite well for the SPL if he is given the funds to do so. All things considered, he is a good manager and I’ve thought so since he was at the rovers. Hopefully they are too skint to sign anyone decent.
I can completely acknowledge what they have achieved but I’m far from happy about it. I can’t stand Falkirk, I have only ill will towards them.

Winning two successive league titles speaks for itself.
They have some numpties in their fanbase - nothing unique.
A case of let him without sin cast the first stone.

Keeping their team together for 3 years has been key for them.
Having that element of togetherness in a squad cannot be underestimated but for next season I don’t think this squad is going to be good enough.
Let’s hope not.

I work in Alloa with a number of Falkirk fans, and my gym is in the Falkirk Stadium and I know a couple from working out in there. The general consensus is that they need to sign players, but McGlynn has pretty much re-signed their entire squad and has been told there isn’t going to be much of a budget shift, unless he can keep them in the league and they can build from there.
Might just be fan rumours but it must be going around the support with so many of them saying the same thing.
