 If Lennon doesn`t stay...

If Neil Lennon was to move on, it seems unlikely in this moment, who`d you go for?

Kettlewell for me

It does seem a bit premature and pointless. Presumably we`ll hear quite soon what the position is with NL.

Just opens up potential conversation.

I want Lennon to stay, I think he`s the right person to lead the club forward but was just thinking what plan B could be if that wasn`t the case.

I hope, and think, Lennon will stay, rebuild the squad and help push the Club forward. If he goes, Kettlewell does seem a decent enough shout.

Don’t think there’s anything wrong with the question. Most are hoping he will stay but there is always a chance he might not agree terms…

I’d love Lennon in charge for next season but not sure who I’d have if he decides against it. Possibly Kettlewell?

Considering what he said in the highlights interview I think it`s an acceptable question of which I have no answer to.

Tidser might apply after having 2 interviews with Kelty and receiving a rejection.

Is that true about Tidser? Applying for getting Kelty gig and getting rejected?

They must be more bitter than I thought they`d be. All he did was try and progress his career. Maybe if it wasn`t with us but with a team outside of Fife they wouldn`t be so bothered. Poor guy.

I thought they were well compensated for their loss but maybe it was offset by the pay-off they would have had to pay Charlie Mulgrew?

Must admit I was surprised he applied and even more surprised they had 2 meetings with him. Bringing in an internal appointment after a similar experiment with inexperienced Charlie Mulgrew didn’t go well and will raise a few eyebrows in their support I`d guess.

The fact they met with Tidser twice suggests to me they`re either seeing something in him before he left for us or perhaps struggling to attract more experienced applicants hence why they went with O`Ware.

Or maybe they were being nasty by getting his hopes up, knowing full well he was never getting the job. Then having a good old laugh about it when he left the interview. Not cool. Not remotely cool.

I`m not sure what`s going on at Kelty but they definitely have lost their way since the BOD reshuffle.

They wouldn`t need to give Mulgrew a pay off wee eck. to his credit he resigned.

Totally valid question.
I want Lennon to stay but should he choose not to, I have no idea, Kettlewell?
It`s a biggy given the owners alleged willingness to fund an overhaul.

I think you have to look at this more holistically. You can rarely reduce an issue to a simple it was their fault. The issue is far more complex and has really started from tge admin days. Yesterday`s solutions are today`s problems. Successive managers, poor management, playing style, lack of real infrastructure, under investment, over use of loan players, poor signings, injuries, poor performances, etc. They all contribute. 80% or problems have 20% solutions. It`s working out those solutions and putting them into action. It`s not about throwing money at it either.

My choice for the job was Kettlewell, even in preference to Lennon TBH.

Perhaps Lennon sees it as too difficult a task. It`s not as if getting rid of 4 and getting 4 in is all that`s needed. It`s an almost complete overhaul that`s required. Can Lennon be bothered with all that hard work? O hope that he does but wouldn`t hold a grudge if he passed on the opportunity.

It`s an extreme challenge for whomever takes the job.

The fact that so many players are out of contract and all the loanees will be going back to their parent club means that we need a rebuild. That makes it “ easier” for whoever manages us next season. No reason why Lennon or anyone else would not relish the chance to build a team capable of winning the Championship next season.
If Lennon gets an acceptable deal he will be our man.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

It`s fair enough saying the owners are more than willing to fund an overhaul, but if that overhaul is via the analytical method I`d be wary of taking the job. It hasn`t exactly worked so far except for Mullen who appears to be a diamond in the rough.

In fairness though, a lot had to change and quickly on all fronts, it was a literal throw of the dice which all in resulted in us staying in the Championship with a bit of optimisim going forward.

Watching his post match interview, it’s clear his future is undecided but that given the right terms in his meeting next week, he’d be willing to take the job on full time.
He knows the ambitions from the new owners are high. That isn’t an issue but it won’t happen overnight for sure.
Playoff minimum next season and champions the year after if not successful in getting promotion would be realistic.

What is clear is it’s a fantastic opportunity that doesn’t come round very often. A club which has underperformed in the last 5 years and not just underperformed but been so poor that apathy from the fans had long since set in and expectations are low but we’re still in the championship.

You’ve have a very healthy budget and plenty squad slots to fill. Fighting for 4th in a league of 10 would be a massive improvement plus it’s got to be the best managers salary for our league even beating some prem mangers.

Plenty of managers would jump at this chance if Lenny doesn’t take it. Here’s hoping it’s not a drawn out process.
