Still some folk saying we were helped by the points deduction.
No we weren`t. We finished above the playoff spot regardless.

That`s right Parrot, and I`m very glad we did finish above Airdrie and Queens Park. It means NL can rightly claim he acheived safety for us.

It’s a hard one to call in terms of, had they not had the deduction, would they, Queens Park and Airdrie still have had the same results?

Can you explain that to me AAPS? Which particular match results do you think could have been different, that would have affected us?

Hamilton`s results against us maybe? They took 9 points to our 3.

^^^ Must have missed something as not hearing this 🤔
We definitely survived on our own merit and it came about from the signing of NL and the capitulation of QP

There`s no point dwelling on stuff like this. Chances are everything might have panned out differently. Different attitudes. Butterfly effect etc. Or the results might have been similar.
Or if Hamilton hadn`t signed the players they did etc etc.
But we live in this timeline where we finished 7th and that`s that.

I too am glad we did it on merit.
Be clear though - Hamilton cheated and were able to field a team of players that they should not have been able to. They won points ( even just by individual players goals they scored) with players who should not have been on the park. So had we finished below QPark - it does not stop the above being factual.

We also did it without scoring a goal. Amazing.

21 (?) league games without scoring - yet we survived on “merit” - everything is relative I suppose. 🤔

It doesn’t - we’ve been crap all season with the exception of a couple of reasonable(ish) results.
The goals for column speaks for itself.
Being the marginally least worst in the relegation pack is no great achievement.

You have to adjust your targets as the season progresses. At the start of the season we were all hoping for better but it didn`t work out that way.

Are folk seriously calling this season an achievement? Based on what exactly?
We’ve literally finished one place worse off than last year and are 10 points behind what we managed then. Not to mention the fact we’re the lowest scoring team in all 4 divisions of Scottish football. That’s not progress, that’s regression.
If that’s an achievement, I dread to think what failure looks like.

I was and wasn`t a million miles away.Yet again we limped our way to another mediocre finish. Any chance you fancy answering my question on why you think this season was some kind of "achievement," bearing in mind the facts I already laid out?
Because for me and probably a majority of our fan base scraping the bare minimum, bottling big moments, and calling it "progress" just doesn`t wash anymore.

A club such as ours, should not be fighting
against relegation. We have one of the best
supported teams in Scotland, and with hopefully Lennon
still here and getting in some decent players, this
scenario will not happen next season.

I thought I`d done that in my posts. It`s all relative. I would have thought, for someone who thinks we have a squad who are predominantly League 1 level, finishing 7th in the Championship was an `achievement`.

We`re the lowest scoring team in Scotland and we`ve ended up with fewer points and a worse league position than last year. It’s hard to find positives in that. If anyone sees this as progress or an achievement then I genuinely struggle to understand the reasoning."

How about just accepting this season for the disaster that it was (even though we survived) and look forward to next season?
Sounds like a good idea to me.

Absolutely we can`t be much worse next year and Lennon will know the areas he needs to strengthen. I am flabbergasted how anyone can come to the conclusion that the season was an achievement though.

It was a disaster.
Last season was only marginally better.
It`s actually pretty funny that we finished 7th and will receive £212,000 "prize money"
Time to let it go. It`s done.

It`s been a dreadful season with few highlights and we need to move on, sharpish.
But there is a wider point about wallowing in misery. Big chunk of folk had us losing league 1 to Falkirk. Then relegated last year. Then absolutely definitely being caught by Airdrie. None of these things happened. Maybe, just maybe it`s a waste of time assuming the worst all the time.

Most certainly not an achievement in the slightest.
Reminded me of the depressive Jocky Scott years.
Pars fans were always brought up on our team at least having a go at the opposition regardless of the results.
This last season has seen us set up just not to lose and no answer when we went a goal or two down.
Tippy tappy p*sh from the back with a very weak midfield devoid of ideas how to open up defences.
We can only get better now and look forward to a title challenge within 2 seasons max.

Absolute disaster of a season and a miracle we managed to survive. It’s a relief that Airdrie had their injury problems for the majority of the season, Queen’s Park had a major collapse and Hamilton cheated! GMBC badly let us down and the lack of investment in the summer made many fear the worst. The sad thing is, if we had invested wisely, we could well have been challenging near the top - as the league quality was ridiculously poor this season.
The good news is we won’t see the majority of the players at our club again and we can hopefully come back stronger next season. I say ‘hopefully’ as I’ve got my hopes up far too many times only to be let down!
