It doesn`t seem long ago they were paying big bucks for European players and aging superstars. Did that all go boobs up or what.

They also killed all the sparrows .. So then the insects took over and ate all the crops .. so they had to introduce more sparrows to eat the insects

If the European players and aging superstars went around killing sparrows it’s no wonder they stopped signing them 😳

Sure the Chinese government effectively pulled the plug on it, which forced the FA to change their rules on contracts etc that clubs could hand out. One of biggest clubs (Guangzhou Evergrande) ended up bust, despite having players like Paulinho, Robinho, Jackson Martinez, Gilardino etc on the books at one time or another.

There is a salary cap now, they have to pay a 100% tax on foreign players which goes to youth development and they are only allowed 3 or 4 foreign players a season.A lot of the teams found themselves in financial difficulty.
