Dunfermline Athletic Chairman and CEO David Cook commented. “This is an important moment for Dunfermline Athletic FC. Confirming the appointment of Neil is a clear statement of our intent to build something meaningful and competitive.
“His leadership during the latter part of last season was outstanding, and he brings a wealth of experience, professionalism, and presence that has already made a significant impact around the club.
“None of this would be possible without the ongoing support of James and Evan. It would be remiss of me not to highlight their passion for moving the club forward.
“We know the past few seasons have been challenging — on and off the pitch. Entertainment has been in short supply, but our supporters have stuck with us through some difficult times. We aim to repay your loyal backing by competing at the right end of the Championship, giving you a team to be proud of.”
We will hear from Neil later tonight before formally sitting down with the media next week to preview season 2025/26 as Dunfermline Athletic Manager.
The club can also confirm that season cards will go on sale tomorrow. Full ticketing information will go live later this evening.

I never doubted it had happened, have said before that I was convinced that the deal was done weeks ago but I was starting to get a little frustrated with there being no announcement.

Seriously though, I`m not expecting miracles, just some visible progress after the summer transfer window, and hopefully a title chasing team after 3 transfer windows.
We have to be pragmatic and realistic, whilst allowing ourselves to be optimistic.

I`m pretty pleased about this. In fact, very pleased! It looks like we can get down to business nice and early for once.
The hopelessly misplanned pre-seasons in recent years have drained most of us of what optimism we had. This was echoed in the poor recruitment and mind-numbing playing styles adopted by recent managers.
Could this be a turning point for the Pars? We live in hope. Please don`t let it turn out to be yet another false dawn.

I`m really excited by this appointment. Lennon is a real coup for our club, arguably up their with the best we`ve had in my 62 years as a Pars fan. He hasn`t achieved anything for us yet unless you count avoiding relegation as an achievement.
Listening to him speak, you can tell he`s a good man manager, and his players will warm to him in a way they never did with Tidser, McPake, Hughes and Grant. That`s important - you don`t have to be likeable to be a good manager, but it helps. His CV will ensure he commands his players` respect straight away. I think he`ll be given a decent budget to bring in some quality players to mount a real promotion challenge. Nobody will be trumpeting that publicly at the start of next season, but that has to be the aim after languishing in the lower leagues for the last 13 years.
Iain Brunskill, Kevin McDonald and Andy Collier will be invaluable in the coaching setup and in helping to devise tactical strategies to overcome different opponents. I haven`t felt so enthusiastic in a long, long time. Bring on the new season!

I believe the atmosphere was quite convivial during our title winning season in League 1, but he became understandably grumpy and tetchy as we scraped along near the foot of the Championship during the last 2 seasons, meaning the players were on edge most of the time and didn`t enjoy the training.
Like I say, it`s understandable. No manager is going to be a bundle of laughs when his team is losing significantly more matches than it`s winning, and his job is on the line, with no guarantee that he`ll walk into another one anytime soon.

Fantastic news and we now have some realistic expectations. A two year deal would suggest to me that the club are looking to build a team to finish comfortably mid table, perhaps pushing a play off place in the first season ,then push on for automatic promotion in the second.
We should manage our expectations accordingly and treat anything better as a real bonus.
