With all the excitement around Hammy re-signing we seem to have overlooked the fact that PSG and Inter Milan meet in the Champions League Final tonight! Is it going to be available on free-to-view somewhere?

Can’t confirm as I’m abroad atm, watching in a Greek bar with local time ko 10pm. Not too many French or Italians here, and the Greek locals not interested unless it’s one of their teams. Should be a cracker of a game!

I get that, Buster, but if you`re not a fan of either team, you might be happy to sit back and watch a football match between two very talented sets of players. There will certainly be more quality on show than we paid to watch at EEP last season. 🙄

Given the quality of the teams, and accepting the money involved, it should be a great game. PSG playing as a team and not relying on individuals or egos, no tippy happy stuff.

I don`t care who wins, I just hope it`s a good game instead of a tense defensive affair. I want 4-4 at full time,6-6 after extra time and have penalties go all the way around to the goalies having to take 1.
Fact, in all 4 times the CL final has been played in Munich, it has a produced a first time winner which is a good omen for PSG.
I`ll predict a comfortable 3-0 win for the Parisians.

Not sure what you mean. PSG have coped with Inter much more easily than Barca. They are a good defensive unit as well as a fearsome attacking force. It`ll be a major shock if Inter can score 2 goals without reply.

Dembele, Doue and Kvaratskhelia pressed high from the off and never let Inter play out from the back at all, as they like to do.
They forced them long, won the ball back and just let Vitinha, Neves and Ruiz run the midfield and attack constantly.
It was a fantastic approach and worked perfectly, an absolute joy to watch.

It’s inevitable the clubs across Europe want a tournament which lets them play against different, fresh opposition. Playing domestic football has gotten stale, and the new format develops players like Dembele, Doue and Yamal at Barca. BBC poll shows fans love the freshness by 2:1.

I don`t normally like one-sided games, but that was the best I`ve watched in a long time. Inter`s limitations were brutally exposed. They didn`t have an off night. They were just annihilated.
It`s a shame Barca didn`t get past Inter. That would have made for a fascinating final. PSG would probably have beaten them, too, as Barca`s defence is so fragile. We might have had a 4-2 instead of a 5-0.

What a fantastic performance from PSG. As a team they all pressed so hard the whole game - even in the 89th minute. No sitting back - they also kept driving forward looking for yet another goal despite the match already being over as a contest. Inter started off the game trying to McPake their way out from the back but all their players were being pressed so quickly effectively by PSG’s incredibly fast and fit young team they kept turning over possession. Wonderful finishing too although the deflection for the second goal helped. This was a real team performance by PSG with everyone working their socks off. Unlike our beloved Pars in recent times, they also attacked using the Sir Alex Blueprint of pace, power, penetration and unpredictability. Some lovely direct weighted through balls forward for players to run onto at pace. Great movement and running off the ball too to create space or pull defenders. That was one of the best footballing performances I have seen, and PSG made a very good Inter side look ordinary.

I thoroughly enjoyed that (for free, thank you Discovery +). PSG were a joy to watch, and it would not have been unjust had they won by more.
The only reservation is that it could be seen as a success for the sportswashing by Qatar and other repressive Gulf states. But more positively, Enrique`s policy of relying on talented youngsters rather than the overpaid primadonnas of previous PSG teams was a success for football.

Stanza, unfortunately you are correct about Qatar sportswashing, Nasser Al-Khelaifi is trying to exert pressure on the FFF to use BeIN sports the official tv rights holders for French football, basically " i own PSG, it`s our money, we want to run the league", a few owners are kicking back, John Textor (American!!) - Olympic Lyon owner is one who pushes back against Al-Khelaifi.

I find it pretty depressing to be honest. Basically to win the champions league these days you need to be funded by a state. The last few winners all had basically unlimited cash backing from a nation state: Chelsea by Russia, Man City by UAE, psg by Qatar and Real Madrid, of course, have the legacy of being funded by Franco.
Is this the direction we want club football to go? I hate it.
Take nothing away from PSG - the players and manager were absolutely magnificent but the dark money behind it all removes the enjoyment for me.

I do get where you`re coming from, Bandy, and I fully agree with your sentiments, but the Beautiful Game is accelerating along a one way highway and it`s never coming back and that`s regrettable.
Let`s not get too misty-eyed about the past, however. When I started watching the Pars, the minimum wage of £20 pw had not long been abolished. There were no agents, though, and young boys were coerced into signing long-term contracts on poor wages. It wasn`t until the Bosman ruling came into force that agents and their clients were able to demand eye-watering salaries, funded by pay TV and sponsorship.
I`m sure you`ll agree that neither scenario is perfect - a middle ground, with modern stadia and affordable ticket prices would have been ideal, but that boat has long sailed. I sometimes wonder if football is living in an ever increasing bubble, which will inevitably burst, but there`s no sign of it so far.
How many top clubs would survive in their present form if TV and sponsors decided to pull out?
Not your average Sunday League player.
