For a fairly limited player he`s done alright for himself. He`s been angling for this by tonguing the cracks of the royals for years now, so this is no surprise. He`s a proper brown nosing, forelock tugger

Completely agree with what Red Star has said about bawheed Beckam. He`s bought that Knighthood. He was
never anything startling. Never near the skills of a Messi or a Ronaldo.

Yes because Alex Ferguson and Real Madrid famously tolerate limited players

Yep - only 115 caps for England.

Beckham made the most of his talent, so good on him, Tad, but I`m sure you`re aware that many of his later caps were as a result of short, cameo appearances from the subs bench. He also wasn`t an automatic starter in Madrid when Capello was their manager. Real admitted they signed Beckham instead of Ronaldinho because he was better looking and would sell more shirts. The extravagantly talented Brazilian signed for Barcelona instead......πŸ™„

I recall an Internet poll among Man U fans to vote for their greatest ever player. Beckham was runner up to (see if you can guess) while George Best was 4th. A journalist asked Best "Well George, what do you think of that poll? Even Beckham beat you. With typical immodesty, George replied, "He can`t run, he can`t tackle, he can`t head the ball, and he`s only got one foot. Apart from that, he`s not bad." 😁

They won 5 league titles after he left before he retired πŸ˜‚ his time at Madrid wasn’t exactly littered with trophies either mind you - 1 league title and 1 super cup in 4 years!

I actually think by end of his career, he was the best player out of that class of 92 or whatever they call it.

Only on .net would you see David Beckham be called a limited player......

It`s all relative, da. Beckham was a fine player, no doubt, but he wasn`t extravagantly talented in the way that say George Best was. He had much more between his ears, though. That`s why he had a much longer career and will almost certainly live longer, too. Beckham looked after himself and trained rigorously.

Perhaps that`s what folk mean when they say he made the most of his talent - maybe a bit mean to insert the adjective "limited" into the conversation. He certainly wasn`t as outrageously talented as Ronaldinho, so Barca certainly got the better deal when Real opted for Beckham instead of the Brazilian.

Come on guys, calling someone "limited" is pretty much saying he`s p*sh.

Ultimately the whole system is **** but when the likes of Southgate gets knighted and the "lionesses" or cricket players as an example receiving multiple Mbe`s etc it shows the whole system is screwed.
Don`t mind Beckham that much but if he was ever lucky enough to meet me then I would never refer to him as sir πŸ˜‰

Surely if he was getting it for his footballing prowess he would have been knighted ages ago? Could it be for charity work?

Plenty less deserving folks than Becks have been knighted. He’s seems quite a likeable fellow.

He was not a good footballer, but he could kick a ball.
How he was knighted is beyond me, he was always the face but what has he done, very little.
What he has done is manage his pr well, but that does not merit a knighthood

Doesnt make a top 10 of his era. Doesn’t mean he wasn’t a good footballer and couldn’t kick a ball though.

I will say he has raised countless millions for charity though, including donating his entire PSG wage to Paris charities. Fair play.
