..has passed away, John Clark aged 84.
Left half who Jock Stein employed as a sweeper behind Billy McNeill as cover for the attacking full backs Stein like to employ.
He was McNeill’s assistant manager at Aberdeen and Celtic and served the club in several roles thereafter, latterly the club kit manager.

A lovely tribute from Bill Leckie in the sun. One of life’s good guys. Played 140 consecutive games between 1965 and 1967.
RIP, John
John Clark put world’s best player in his pocket and Celtic hero would amaze me until the very end, writes Bill Leckie

One of the teams I can quote without thinking:-
Simpson, Craig, Gemmell, Murdoch, McNeil, Clark, Johnstone, Wallace, Chalmers, Auld and Lennox.
But not as good as:-
Martin, Callaghan, Lunn, Fraser, Barry, Edwards,
Lister, Paton, Ferguson, Callaghan and Robertson.
