That`s cos he wasn`t good enough last season, along with several others and he now has to prove he`s good enough to stay at this club. KRH, Nygema and Young also have it all to prove.

Hamilton are definitely a tougher test than Dumbarton. They are quite threatening on the break. Whilst we have a lot of possession, and our passing is excellent at times, we are not very effective in the final third. Can`t see NL being very pleased with things so far.

Started to get a bit too predictable always looking for the diagonal to Kearney but glad to be ahead at the break. Mehmet hasn`t had much to do but has been fine. Chilokoa-Mullen the weakest of the back three today, whereas Benedictus has been mostly fine and J Tod has impressed again. Need to get Amade on the ball more as he looks class. Gilmour making some good tackles in the midfield which we`ve lacked in recent years. Cooper been busy and lucky not to be seriously injured from a borderline red card challenge just before the half. Kane trying but nothing coming off. Tod isn`t a centre forward but did well with the goal. Otoo not bad and Kearney really good at wing back. Might see Davidson and MacLeod get half an hour, especially if we can grab a quick second.

We have a striker who can score from distance and from free kicks, yet he can`t even get a place on the bench. He can`t be that far "off it", surely. If he is a bit behind the others would it not be better giving him some game time before the league starts?

Cannot say that was a convincing win !
it was strewn with giving the ball away far too many times and letting Hamilton get up the park , we were a bit complacent and it took a lucky OG to win us the game ! certainly saw tonight where we still need some quality before the league starts , all that said will take the win , a win is a win no matter how you achieve it

Much harder game tonight (as expected but Hamilton also much weaker than last season) and a bit of a dose of reality. We’re better than last year but all that means we’re now a mid table championship side but also relying on consistency from a young squad.
If we can bring in those 4-5 more experienced players with quality where it counts we’ll surely be in the playoff mix at the top end. Just have to hope they start to come in soon.

Think tonight showed middle to front we still lack cutting edge and creativity.
Thought Gilmour and J Tod were really good.
Thought A Tod looked tired and should have been off earlier and he’s not a striker.
Shame Bray isn’t getting much of a chance.
Really need a striker or 2 in the door and some creativity that should be the focus areas. Never win games if you don’t score.
Few results go our way Saturday and a win by at least 3 and we might sneak into the next round.

Think to get out of group we needed to win by 3/4 goals tonight, a lot of teams in with a real chance of 9 points this year so will all go down to GD.
Thought we looked fine today, played with more intent, but still need 3/4 players in - GK, CB, CAM, ST the main ones.

Cooper will do us just fine
Amade. Class
Gilmour - can graft. Really, really like him.
Overall we are much more gritty and physical
Otoo isn’t a wing back … not sure what he is.
Bene doing well
KRH looks like he knows he’s in 2nd place for the start and did better

The Tod brothers will be good squad players this year, but aren’t ready for week in week out football at the Championship level. Got to remember John is only 18. Gotta manage the young players within the squad, play them, rest them appropriately etc. Andy looked absolutely humped for about 10 minutes before he went off. Look at the likes of Tierney, Patterson and Hickey, played every minute when younger and now paying the price with their bodies now.
Gilmour - looked very neat, nothing special. Gets the job done.
Amade - again, very calm and finds a pass, let’s hope he settles well.
Kearney - looks a cracking player, crosses excellent, the type we needed with Mccann in the box last season.
Tonight was always gonna be tricky, Hamilton aren’t a great quality team but always give you a tough match. So pleased to the get the win.

Think Hamilton deserved some credit tonight.
They stretched us at times and I’d be sticking my cash on them winning their league this season.
A bit powder puff up front but a good solid display from them.
We were a bit flat for large portions of the game and crying out for players to grasp the ball and change it.
Mullen did that very well and Otoo second half was effective as was Hamilton when he came on.
Showed real heart we were lacking at times.
Andy Tod was clearly tired and should not have played as long as he did but he had a good game as did his brother.
Very doubtful we can qualify now so let’s just go out on Saturday and try different things to fine tune the squad leading up to our league campaign.

Not long home and happy with the win, although I thought we were a bit sloppy at times and let Hamilton back into it more than we should have. That said, over the course of the match, I think the better team won.
There’s clearly a big improvement on last season, no doubt about that. But if we’re aiming for a proper promotion or play-off push, I still think we’re a little short of where we need to be. Some of our phases of play are excellent, and off the ball we look like a strong, physical side, but when we hit those sloppy spells, they really show.
Like many others, I was seriously impressed with Kearney, especially going forward. For anyone who questioned the decision to release Comrie, I think you got your answer. Comrie’s a good player, but he doesn’t deliver balls into the box like that, and he certainly doesn’t get forward with that kind of intent. My biggest frustration is that we don’t have a proper target man to get on the end of those crosses. Just imagine what someone like Andy Smith could have done with that kind of service… I suppose strikers like that are a dying breed, but if Lennon can unearth one, they’ll be in for a shedload of chances.
The new boys impressed again. Amade and Gilmour look like they’ll complement each other well in the middle of the park, and their use of the ball was really encouraging. McLeod looked tidy when he came on, composed, picked out a few good passes, and definitely someone I’m looking forward to seeing more of. The Tod brothers were excellent too. Still young, and they’ll have their ups and downs, but you can see they’ve got a big future.
Tonight also highlighted where we’re still lacking. Otoo, didn’t offer much threat down the left again. I just don’t think that role suits him.
It’s also becoming pretty clear that there are a few players under contract who just aren’t in Lennon’s plans. I’d be curious to know where he stands on Ngwenya and Bray. I’ve said from the start that NL doesn’t seem to fancy Ngwenya, and nothing so far has changed that impression. And once again, Bray didn’t get any game time.
All in all, yeah, I’m pleased. Lennon talked about steady progress, and I think we’re starting to see it. We had to dig deep for the result, but we got it. Roll on Saturday!
P.S. Goes without saying, really hoping Kane’s injury isn’t anything serious. Looked like an impact knock from where I was sitting, fingers crossed it’s nothing more than that. 🤞

The amount of folk on here that clearly have no idea what they’re talking about is comical.
The squad depth is very deep for most positions.
3 more signings is all we need to be fully covered across the squad. A GK, CB & ST
Otoo was playing as an inverted wing back and is by far the best wing back we have. He’s playing there because he’s the best player to play that position. We don’t play with “wingers”
We’re loaded with midfielders, laiden with them!
Kearney looks decent going forward, very poor defensively so will need to improve hugely.
I’m here to take over!!

I expect Kane to be out after injury tonight so that creates options.
Lets see what Bray, McCleod, Ngwenya, Davidson can do
and give a wee nudge to to T Sutherland, Sam Young and Connor Young too

I think folk need to remember that goal difference only comes into it if we`re joint on points.
I`m pretty sure at least 2 of the 8 groups will finish with second place on lower than 9 points, possibly 3. They are therefore irrelevant if we win on Saturday
We`re then in a shootout of around 3 of 6 teams going through. We`ve got a chance.
We were in a section with (arguably) the best team in this stage of the competition. If wr go out on goal difference, it`s disappointing but we`ve done okay!

Just watched the goals.
Thankfully we have no VAR for the first one, don’t think it would’ve counted based on the position Cooper put the ball for the corner.
Aside from that though, cracking leap from J Tod and a good finish.
The equaliser looked easily avoidable, was a really nice pass, J Tod should’ve done better though, perhaps experience but the ball was there to be won and would’ve with a bit of aggression.
Perhaps worried about being sent off. Good lesson to hopefully learn before the season starts.
The winner came from Mullen really with his work ethic, fortunate that it led to an own goal.
