Do you think he will be deliberately targeted by devious defenders?
They know he is our main threat, and a knock is likely to see him miss a few games.

I doubt they need to. He can get injured without deliberate assistance.

It’s not knocks that keep him out. He is actually quite robust. It is an ongoing calf issue which can flare up after a game or two…..and will again…
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

The guy can handle himself more than most. Just his legs are made of chocolate in 25 degree sun.
We need a couple strikers due to playing two up top and Kane`s struggle to string 3 games in a row.

I don’t think Kane is being targeted, but the evidence is there that we simply don’t win games when he’s missing. That said, his injury record is the main reason St Johnstone let him join us. I’m confident Lennon will bring in someone who can play a run of games and be more of a threat than we’ve got just now. Kane missing games must be infuriating for Lennon that his main man for goals just isn`t realiable.

Very sad what percent of games has
he been missing for, for us.
We need young to start tto click, but also a new striker. Dont understand what the problem is, is it cash or lack of quality available. Or are we waiting until end of market, when better players get desperate and cheaper

I suspect the problem is that proven strikers are few and far between - especially for a full-time club in the Scottish Championship. Anyway, NL says he is hopeful of signing one soon, possibly today.

We need another option ….. Kane is trying to keep fit but realistically IMO he will play 10-15 games this season.
I still think C young is coming good but sounds like NL is looking to get another striker in.

Not really much he can do about getting smashed by a Stirling player.
This injury is not related to his chronic calf issue.

He was actually injured in the Hamilton game on the Tuesday night before the Stirling game so he`s now been out for two and a half weeks.
If he caught the flu and missed a game folk would say it was because he was `injury prone`.

Still not reliable, we need a striker that will play 30 games a season

Perfect as you just described Chris Kane. 34 games last season scoring 12 goals.

I`ve no doubt that he`s sometimes subbed to safeguard him, but now that you can make 5 subs - and generally the centre backs are left alone - fewer players in forward positions will play the full game.

If McPake hadn`t taken a chance on Kane we could have been relegated in either of the last two seasons. Hindsight`s a wonderful thing though.

Where’s the argument about Chris Kane coming from 😂😂😂😂😂
We know he’s good enough to play in Scottish premiership but his calf’s are weak the usual knocks and pulls that players pick up during the season means he’s no reliable enough.
I think everyone knew that when we signed him but we signed knowing when he’s playing he’ll greatly improve the team. Now we have a little extra money and NL as manager, we’re hoping to sign other strikers. Hopefully take the pressure off Kane so he can be available for more games but perhaps playing less minutes 🤷🏻♂️ maybe we’ll sign someone who keeps him out of the starting 11 and comes on for the last 30 minutes

………..not saying he is a liability. He’s a very good player …..when fit.
We do need to look at other options.

Normally Celtic do that. Would think he might get a club in a higher league but you never know

`We do need to look at other options`.
Hasn`t NL made it abundantly clear that this is what we are doing? I can`t understand why people suggest that the club is doing nothing about it or that it is very difficult for a club like ours to clinch a suitable deal.
