Quite funny, if you look at the team today you could say only the keeper and gilmour are players who we didn’t have on the books 2nd half of last season where we really struggled.
If the Germans were still here and that team was put out we would be screaming about a lack of investment.
But here we are hoping it’s enough to get 3 points on the board!

We looked 2nd best for spells but a moment of individual brilliance and then good determine and suddenly we’re 2-0 up!
Though cooper, Andrew Tod and young looked way off it apart from that and we looked quite toothless. Hopefully this settles us down and we can be a bit freer in the second half.

Not our best performance first half but two goals up. Says alot about a team who aren`t necessarily playing well but still manage to score two goals. We have more to offer second half hopefully so with luck we can add another 1 or 2. Airdrie will have to come out and take chances. It might leave space for Young and Cooper

I thought we were a wee bit ragged at times, but even before the goals we were showing a bit of spice. I`m seeing two or three of our players that look like a forward line of the old days. There`s a bit of incision, and if Cooper and Young stop making the wrong choice to shoot rather than pass and such irritations, they have the look of blokes who are hungry to score - and I feel they will wi` a wee bit more composure and/or luck.

Good stuff, the fact we are shooting alone is a big improvemen, last season we had entire month`s without these figures.
2-0 at home against Airdrie is a good result in any terms, the goalscorer is one of our youngsters we thought might go on loan, but has improved so quickly, there`s no need.

Great result and saw it out quite comfortably in the 2nd half. Andrew Tod looked gassed the whole second half, possibly carrying an injury as wasn’t really competing at least we have a break to get quality in now. Thought Andrew was quite poor before the goal and kept giving the ball away.
Agree on cooper, gets into good positions but just lacking that awareness and quality on the ball when it counts you can see why Lennon went for someone like Easton in there and I’d imagine someone will come in for that role.
Young looks low on confidence and not on the same wavelength, hopefully he comes good.
Front 3 aside a much better looking side with much more in the middle and on the wings. Bodes well for when we finally bring those other attacking players in

We can play dirty and have plenty people winning the ball back. That’s the difference so far this season ( including the cup). Our midfield just won’t let it go. Loving that. Goal aside ( beautiful) JohnTod is rockin it. Cooper and Young weren’t quite on song. ATod 4 in 5 !!!
I think we saw today why KRH got the nod ahead of Kearney. He’s a bit to do to get up to full time pace. KRH looking much more confident.
Keeper. Immense. Bene. Solid. Chiko Mullen. Flexible and solid. Gilmour. Not his best game. Otoo. Decent. Oakley. Not his best. Amade. Pushed forward more and was good. Matty Todd. Fighting hard for a start.

Apart from the early stages of both halves, we looked pretty comfortable. Credit to Munn for the save from the free kick, that was vital.
Some goal from John Tod!
The thing that looked different was the subs too - they changed the second half again and all looked like they could compete for places. Bray and Amade looked very good.

Very comfortable win today. First half a non event till that brilliant finish from Tod.
Second half you could just see how much the players are playing for each other never allowing Airdrie to settle and forcing them into mistakes.
With the wind it was never going to be a classic but today was like night and day from last season.
Midfield looks very solid and we are finally posing a threat up front.
KRH gets a lot of stick from some but I thought he ran himself into the ground today.
He chased every ball and wanted it always.
I feel comfortable with our goalie too.

Someone above said that the pitch was not looking good……eh ?
Not a great performance but will take the three points.
By god how do we need to get a striker in pronto !
Keeper ( had very little to do ) and the back three were all comfortable. The rest ? Meh. Cooper and Young were very poor. Can’t really think of anyone that shone today.
One for the statos….was thinking to myself on the way home..’.when was the last time ( if ever ) that a club legends two sons both scored? In the first half and I believe it is both their first league goals too……..
Very few players ever get to see their son playing for the team that they played for let alone two boys. It’s incredible really.
Johns goal was an absolute peach. Andy’s a tap in but they all count. Son of God must be immensely proud tonight..
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Quite a strange game. First half we started off poorly and Munn pulled off a decent save from the free kick. We grew into it a bit but the final ball was sometimes lacking. Really felt for Cooper as nothing he was trying was coming off. Disagree that Young looked poor - his movement and his ability to spin quickly was causing issues and goals will come. Looked like it was fizzling out into a stalemate of a first half but then an incredible goal from John Tod and we go ahead. Great work to win the ball back then a cracking cross and it`s 2. Had it remained at 0-0 I`d have been looking at taking Ritchie-Hosler and Cooper off for Kearney and Todd or Bray, but being 2 up Lennon felt we didn`t need the changes and that was fair enough.
The second half was really good though. If we were ever 2 up over the past few seasons we`d have sat back and eventually got deeper and deeper until we conceded. But not today. We went looking for the third and created some really good chances. I`d have kept Young on to try and get him the goal his link up play deserve and withdrawn Andy Tod as he looked done, and I`d have taken Cooper off but instead we ended up with Tod and Ritchie-Hosler up front. It.strangely worked, and in the end Ritchie-Hosler had one of his better recent games. Amade looked tidy when he came on and Bray showed some nice touches.
So lots of positives - another clean sheet, 2 goals, lots of chances created and subs who can have an impact. A couple of things didn`t work - Chilokoa-Mullen and Tod both had good games but had the odd brain fart and were caught out of position, Gilmour was quite sloppy in possession at times and Munn`s kicking was poor. But we can play better and we still won comfortably so it`s hard to complain. It`s a shame there`s no game next week.

Anyone at the game today can see this team is streets ahead of the guff we had last year. Munn looks the part although too early to say if he’s better than Tobi, but promising. Otoo is an upgrade on Ngwenya, and our RWB options are stronger than Comrie was.
John Tod has been a great addition, almost like a new signing, and Gilmour is by far our best signing this season. He is a total upgrade on last year’s options in the middle of the park. Andy Tod looks decent, and if he keeps improving, he could be a real asset.
A good performance and a rare win without kane.

We`re a hard nut to crack, which is all you need to be in this league. I think that game is your typical championship fixture, not much in the game and one or two goals will win it. Just highlights the need for another proper striker.
What I really like is the strength we`re bringing on from the bench just now, everyone has a point to prove to get into the team and lifts the energy of our game again.
I`d go with amade ahead of TOB v rovers thought he ran the game when he came on.
Also the ref was absolutely stinking along with his linesman on the NW side putting his flag up for the ball going out whilst not even looking as it rolls along the touchline. Clowns.

Cannot fault anybody today. Took a while to try and cope with a horrendous swirling wind and the front men had a hard shift coping with that and a whistle happy referee.
Gilmour outstanding again, as was the back three.
Thought the subs didn`t allow the standard to drop when they came on and all contributed.

Really good win today. Wasn`t too different to last week in that we looked really solid in midfield and never really in any trouble at that back without really offering much in the final third.
Otoo got caught with the long diagonal in behind him a few times so wondered if Airdrie had been working on that intentionally.
Still really short up front but that moment of brilliance set us apart. Definitely need 1 or 2 in to take the burden off Tod - especially if Kane is inevitably going to be missing as often as he tends to be - he was absolutely out on his feet after an hour for the second week in a row but still ran his bottom off.

What a difference it makes if you can score goals from open play without having to exert a lot of concerted pressure on a packed defence. Both goals came about from our centre backs rampaging over the half-way line which can cause havoc in the opposing defence. Airdrie huffed and puffed but didn`t really create many chances.
I had the pleasure of sampling the new catering in hospitality and it was a step up from previous offerings. All round - a great day out! And from what I heard, the player budget is far from exhausted.

A wee shout for Munn. I know it`s early days but he does look the part. The save from the free kick in the first half was crucial. Those were the kind of goals we were losing last season.

Good save but thought he could have done a better job at setting up the wall.

He certainly exudes confidence.
Leish interviewed him in hospitality pre-match and, because of his Rangers connection, managed to tell him about the winnng goal he scored at Ibrox in 1972. The poor boy was quite perplexed.

Two brothers……?
Surely when Trevor, Mark, Paul and Bobby were all playing, we managed two of them scoring in same game ? (Don’t think they quite all overlapped, and aye they weren’t brothers but they shared a common surname.)

Really enjoyed today. Feeling massively positive about where we are headed as a club.
In central midfield and defence we look really solid.
We fought for everything today and looked the fitter team in the second half.
We look a hard team to play against.
We are light years ahead of where we were this time last year.
A few additions and we could well be in the picture for promotion.

Really impressive 2nd half for me. They didn`t look like getting back into the game at any point. Really impressive

Feels like we’ve got a fitba team again! Certainly far from perfect but even in a poor first half we threatened. John Tod’s goal was immense but his overall performance was very good. Got to shout out the ball from Mullen for the 2nd.
We looked really good in the second half. Controlled the Airdrie attacks then just took over. Should have scored more tbh. We are screaming out for a striker. Think that could have been 4 with a decent front man.
I’m really pleased
Long live Neil Lennon!

Been on holiday throughout July, so yesterday was my first game. I really enjoyed it. Airdrie are a decent side and posed us plenty of problems, which we dealt with well. John Tod`s goal was worth the admission money alone. It was refreshing to see the team looking to get forward every time they won possession, even if some misplaced passes often caused the moves to break down.
3 points and a clean sheet. We`re on an upward trajectory, so what`s not to like?
Not your average Sunday League player.

The interesting thing for me is Airdrie’s first attacking option is not to play a midfield and play it from back to front. At one point they had 5 forwards lined up to our 4 defenders on the half way line. That is when they were causing most problems. If the ball didn’t get beyond our defence then they allowed two players to backtrack off their front line. I have seen the Ross County game they played but I would be interested how they came back from 2 down.

Wow….waking up happy on a Sunday morning… what is this??
I’m lucky, the only game I’ve missed so far this season was the Dumbarton one, and it’s been brilliant watching this squad come together and grow.
It’s still early days, and of course nothing has been achieved yet, there are still areas where we’re lacking, but yesterday was another reminder that we finally have a proper football team again. Lennon and Brunskill deserve huge credit for that.
Airdrie, like Morton before them, started brightly and looked dangerous early on. Once again, Munn came up with a big save before we found our feet going forward. But throughout, we looked solid across the park and gave very little away and never really looked like conceding.
John Tod, Gilmour and a few others are rightly getting the plaudits, but I want to highlight Bene and KRH. Both have taken their fair share of criticism over the past 12 months and KRH has even had to adapt to a new role, but I thought they were both excellent again yesterday. Bene is the glue holding that back three together. Their efforts across these two games shouldn’t go unnoticed.
Absolutely delighted with what I’ve seen so far and I’m just gutted we’ve now got a week off. I’d love nothing more than to keep the momentum going!

I totally get what you are saying, but you can also say that the week off is a great opportunity to get one or two new players in and get them training with the squad ahead of the next game

Bene was good yesterday. Just sits and allows the other two central defenders to get forward. Never misses a header either and is a great leader.

He committed another foul ( not card worthy but when you’re on a booking they’ll add up) after he’d been booked and it was in my mind Lennon might have made a change at HT. Two minutes later he scores the goal and there’s no chance he’s pulled.
He’s got great feet ( JCM too) for a centre back and Bene holding between them gives one of them the freedom to go forward, I like the system.

I take it Airdrie fans had no problem with their silent assassin tactics whenever the Pars broke. How many attacks did we have where someone went tumbling off the ball?
Someone eventually got booked in the SH but they were at it all game.
“.........it ain’t over till the Pars score!”

The attack on Jon Tod with their midfielder long after he was gone was borderline red.

Decent(ish) performance although I thought we huffed and puffed until the first goal.
Looks like we have a dependable keeper - kept the score at 0-0 with that great free kick save and was sound all round.
The acid test will come when the Pars face a better side than a very average Airdrie.
