No, it was an English club, effectively putting us well out the running.

we have bid 500K ?
Why did you ask that?
Who suggested that?
All I have seen is a general comment that one of the English sides offered somewhere near half a million.
Nothing suggesting we were close to that.

I doubt we`ve got anything like £500k left in the transfer kitty after all the fees we`ll have paid so far.

Courier suggesting we have made a bid in that range (500k) which has subsequently been turned down. Seemingly Luton and Portsmouth in for him so you’d think we’d be big odds to sign him from here.

Yes, big odds against us signing him now Westies. I`d say we`ve about as much chance of getting Mackenzie Kirk`s signature as we have of finding a genuine portrait of Roy Barry signed by Rembrandt.

Knowing how much we have recruited already, it would be footballing and financial suicide for Saints to sell him to a potential rival were we to win the league.

The difference is Bord plays the odds.
If we pay 500k for a striker who does well - we sell to an English championship club for a 5 fold increase. We pay 200k for Fraser and sell him for a 10 fold increase.
It’s literally a different ball game right now for us.
We lose 3-400k on a few others. Still quids in.
Plus in 2 seasons we are in the Premiership. More money
And a fun fest for all on the way.
We should all strap ourselves in for the ride.
We are probably paying more for 3-4 peoples wages right now than the whole squad got a few years ago.

How on earth can st Johnstone turn down 500k?
That’s the difference with us now, financially we don’t have to accept low bids so if we do unearth a gem, we don’t have to accept low bids ie hibs with Nesbit.

What`s so special about this kid for such large numbers to get floated about?
Not being facetious, I genuinely don`t know because I haven`t seen him.

Probably a good sign for the game in Scotland if players like Mackenzie Kirk are attracting such bids. Players going abroad, especially to Serie A and performing has helped raise their profile. Greater investment in the game, a lot of American owners another factor, plus the general inflation of prices of players in general.
Quite an optimistic time for Scottish football with much better performances in Europe from the non OF teams, looks like Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts, United have some serious backing. Hopefully a more competitive top division which will raise standards and play a part in developing better players for the national team.
Or it might just be me bathing in the relative glory of still being on holiday, the Pars looking like a decent team finally and investing in what looks like some genuinely promising players.

It sounds like Kirk`s agent and St Johnstone are drumming up interest, as desperate as we are for a striker I`d be shocked if we were bidding anything close to that region of money.

This is my thoughts, plus the reports I have read stated that Portsmouth had made the £500,000 bid which was rejected and we had also had bids rejected, but no mention of how much.
I understand the interest in Kirk, and I think he’d be a good addition, but spending that much…..this has an agent all over it for me.
