As well as the Zak Rudden story, the Courier is reporting that NL is saying Ewan Otoo is not for sale and the club is looking to extend his contract.

If there`s interest in a player it makes sense to extend his contract rather than let it run down surely? Isn`t that what happened with Josh Edwards?

He may wish not to sign it though, wee eck and then you have to decide whether to take money now or let him leave on a free, a year down the line.
Personally, I would take the money, if he chooses not to sign a new deal.

When he’s been playing in his natural position of central midfield, he hasn’t really looked anything special. I’d take anything over the previously reported 100k for him. We’ve got cover at LWB now, and is he really any better than what we have?

If he turns down the new contract, the 100k offer could easily drop dramatically based on the limited length of the current deal. Risky business for a player who looks pretty average.

Could be his agent making moves to secure his client a better deal given a few more players have signed on much bigger wages.

I’d like to see a lot more from him at this level before giving him a longer term deal, okay he’s played various positions but what is his position? We signed him as a left back and just like that we think he’s now an upper championship level midfielder? Should be an absolute beast on the park with pace and power but as we saw against Raith sometimes he looks like a left back trying to play in the middle of the park.

Maybe I`m too cynical, but I`m reading the "not for sale" article as actually meaning "get your bids in now".

“The offer didn’t come anywhere near to meeting our expectations of what we value Ewan at,” said manager Neil Lennon of Crawley’s latest bid.
“So, it was a non-discussion, really.
“The club’s a different animal now as well. It was knocked back pretty quickly.
“I’ve had a sit down with Ewan and he knows what we think of him here as a player – and as a boy.
“We’re still in talks with him, hopefully to maybe extend. We’ll see how it goes.
“For now, he seems pretty content and the ball’s in Ewan’s court.
“But he’s not for sale, that’s for sure. And that’s been made clear to him as well.”

I would be chuffed if he extended by a couple of years.

The Rovers game passed him by, but he`s a player I like a lot, I`m sure there`s more to come from him also, am absolutely certain he can do better than Crawley.

I`d personally take the money as I don`t think he starts in CM or LWB. He is a great player to have in a squad for versatility and could make a good LCB but as said above he needs to show a lot more than he is at the moment

Agree - he didn't play well against Raith, but he wasn`t the only one

Not sure if you guys got the memo, but you need to start getting with the program here.

Ewan is the first name on the team sheet, can play CB, LB, LWB, DM, CM (sometimes all in one game). He`s big, strong and energetic. We are rightly going to extend his deal, as he is only going to get better. Wee sh 1tey clubs like Creepy Crawley better get there 300k+ bids in quick

I’m sometimes bemused by the views on players on here but each to their own.
I’ve always liked Otoo.

His passing perhaps his biggest weakness but he is strong.
He likes to drive forward and when given a chance has a great shot on him.

Mullen is another one I see getting stick.
I actually think he’s got a bit of class about him and he’s far from the finished article that is true but he will improve a lot on the coming years no matter who he’s playing for.
I love to see defenders coming out their area and driving up the field.
Yeah he has made mistakes and didn’t initially react well when put under pressure but he’s young and with good coaching I maintain he’ll end up with a big team.

Sol Bamba was like him in many respects but a good football brain could see the obvious potential as was proved later on.

Mullen is right at the start of his career, and another one you can see will only improve, and has a bit of class about him.

What I like about him, he had a stinker against the Rovers, but he didn`t try and hide-that takes guts.

Plenty more to come from both these players.

Ottoo is a good player but I think
there is better to come from him.
