I cannot, for the life of me, see what Mullen did wrong for his second booking.

That’s not a booking
It`s bloody tough being a legend

For me that`s really naive by JCM, don`t think it`s a booking for the challenge itself but you`re giving an inept referee a decision to make.
On a yellow he needs to be a bit more aware of the challenges he`s going in for and the risk/reward. If it`s a last ditch challenge to save a goal or it`s the last minute of the game and you`re going for a winner fair enough. But so early in the 2nd half makes it a mountain to climb for his teammates.

I suspect the linesman may have had an input - not seen the footage yet though.

That is what people close to me in the NW said that it was a linesman’s call, not the Referees.

Thats even worse then, given they both connected with the ball at the same time and both knees went into each other at the same time. At worst it was a 50/50 that they won - never a booking. And no chance he was booked for dissent, hes nowhere near the ref who’s hounded by 3 Ayr players walking away from Mullen.

That ref is one of these guys that thinks the crowd paid to watch him, not the players. He was absolutely brutal. That was not even a foul by Mullen. No wonder he said something to the ref but he was having none of it because he clearly thinks he is always right.

The lineman called it, and I had the same view as the Linesman.

"The lineman called it, and I had the same view as the Linesman."
That would explain the pause between the foul - ref giving the free kick - ref informed by lino that its a yellow - ref gives gerry a red card.
If your on a Yellow dont give the ref an excuse to send you off. Cant say it cost us the game but it sure didnt help.
