 Saturdays approach v Thistle.

What do we reckon Lennon is going to go with on Saturday then?

Who starts between the sticks?

Does he go to a back 4?

Does Davidson come in for Mullen as both Otoo and Tod play Left Centre Half?

Does he stick with the same front due or does Kane or Barney come in?

I’d like to assume Robbie Fraser and Amade are reinstated to the starting eleven.

It’ll be interesting to see once the teams announced.

Terrell to start

Otoo Bene and J Tod as a back 3. J Tod on the right.

Amade and Fraser got to be back in starting 11.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Barney Stewart starts up front. Be pleased if he scores a couple as well.

Kearney may go right centre back and KRH to wing back or he might bring Hamilton in to replace Jerry?
Fraser for Otoo and Amade for Tash.

Otherwise, same as Tuesday.

Terrell in goal
Abdulai for Mullen
ill take a punt it will be Caceres and Tod up front, Amade, Gilmour and Oakley in midfield. Fraser for Otoo who will be doing well to make the bench.

Kearney as a centre half? absolutely no chance

No I thought so too.
He didn’t have a good game on Tuesday but a number of balls he received were short or behind like many of our frustrating passes. I really wish he would learn to use his right foot to even give himself a pass option to his stronger left. He always must take the ball across his body to get it to his left and it would be great if he could use his right to be on the weaker side of his opponent as he becomes too predictable when in close combat with the opposition.
Edit: I still really like him as a player though

I think LCB really suits Otoo. We were playing him at LWB and tbh he was pretty poor there. He’s not got the skill set for it. I think he’ll be important to the squad but I don’t think LWB is his thing

I don’t know whether Lenny plays Oakley when we need height and then benches Amade. Similarly maybe played Otoo as opposed to Fraser.
Both will be back off the bench and start tomorrow.
I don’t think he will change keeper again. Aside from the goal ( a bit unlucky coming back on him after saving to the post) he did well and his distribution is better than Munn.
RCB will be the interesting one. … it might be easier to play a back 4

If we don’t get out the traps from the 1st second, Lenny will be subbing someone after 10 mins to put a bomb up the rest of their rectums!

Kearney at RCB is a wild shout. He`s an attacking wing back, notably right back who could play in a three like Comrie. I quite like the idea of Abdulai coming in (I`m sure he normally plays RCB) but I think John Tod will slide across as he seems quite comfortable with both feet, then Otoo will go to LCB. Also think he`ll keep Terrell in goal. He didn`t do an awful lot wrong seeing rhe goal back again.

Could see Stewart starting after signing. I`d like Young to get another shot tbh, when he played we lacked the creativity of the likes of Cáceres and the wing backs weren`t getting forward as much as Kearney and Fraser do, so the chances he was getting was limited. Better off developing his own than loanees where possible I always think. Different if it`s an old head dropping down a division.

Abdulai for Mullen if Lennon thinks he`s ready, if not Chris Hamilton. Amade and Gilmour midfield and Fraser at LWB. Up front preferably Kane but if not available give Stewart a chance along with A Todd. Not that confident with either keeper but at present think Munn looks slightly more assured but I think they will go with Terrell.

It will be interesting to see if Lennon opts for his preferred 3 CB’s and 2 wing backs, or if he changes it to a flat back 4. Thistle are dangerous from wide areas so I reckon a back 4 would be more suitable for this fixture. Amade and Gilmour have to start for me, this is the strongest our centre midfield has been since we last won the league. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if we seen Barney Stewart feature from the start. Fingers crossed we’re quick out the traps today, this first goal is usually so important in our games so it’s imperative we tighten up and stop giving away slack goals. Heart says 3-1 pars, head says 1-1.

Kearney looks a lot better going forward than he does defensively from what i`ve seen.

Will be a tough test for him today as Fitzpatrick and Chalmers have both looked pretty decent from what i`ve seen of PT this season.

Only question for me is who starts up top alongside Andrew Tod, the rest of the team picks itself if everyone`s fit. Otoo did well at CB against St J, so he should get the nod to replace Mullen

Turrell

Kearney
J Tod
Bene
Otoo
Fraser

Gilmour
Amade
Cacares

A Tod
McLeod/Stewart

I could see Stewart getting the nod today, purely because he`s actually a striker. Depends on how fit he is though.

A few people asking for Kane to start and see how long he lasts, but he isn`t going to go from 5 min cameos to starting games, they`ll need to build his minutes up first I think

Not sure what the story is with Connor Young, but since he`s been missing from the squad for a few weeks I reckon he`ll be on the bench at best. Shame he`s been out, he hasn`t been fantastic but we could do with him atm

I would like for us to focus on attack and get in about their central defence. I think that is where thistle are weakest. Ensure we have mobility and speed in front of them. I would really love to see us hammer a team from the start. I also hope the players are fired up from the frustrations on Tuesday and take it out on Thistle.

Don`t think you can start a front two of Tod and MacLeod again. Need a physical presence in there, hopefully Stewart is ready to go

I don`t think we need to re-invent the wheel here.

Yeah we were poor first half on Tuesday, but decent after that. I think the formation works in general and I wouldn`t be changing that for Partick Thistle.

Bring Abdulai in for JCM, Fraser has to start ahead of Otoo. I think Fraser is a cracking player. Amade for TOB and Andy Tod alongside Stewart as the target man. Think Stewart could provide the physicality we`ve been crying out for and open gaps for Toddy.

I think we will take them today.

Stewart is just coming back from injury so i’m assuming he’ll be on the bench but he might be ready to start so who knows. We real need a physical presence up front, someone to help hold the back up, compete in the air and bring others into the game and thats not tod or mcleod, only other player capable of doing that is kane who seems out of favour.

Its not so easy to find pockets of space for jefferson etc when partick will no doubt sit in and wait for their chances.

The rest of the 11 picks itself if fit, would be good to see nurudeen get a chance, if i’d imagine otoo will get the nod.

Formation is a concern for me today. I expect Patrick will constantly try to get Fitzpatrick and Chalmers in behind our wingbacks and running at our back three.

Maybe Hamilton will come in for JCM? I like him as a defender.

I would encourage any forward player to look at video clips of George best in his playing days. When he picks the ball up his first thought is to move forward as directly as possible on goal. It`s a mindset that develops the skills needed to attack the defence and goal. He was also never afraid to have a shot at goal from the edge of the box when he created even the smallest of gaps.

Interesting point as I said that about Caceres on Tuesday. He is always looking forward.
On George Best I only got to see him live in a testimonial in Glasgow when, because he came on, they decided to have two keepers 😂 . To which he nutmegged both to score a goal. 😂 amazingly talented guy.

Biggest approach would be to take the game to them instead of us dilly dallying at the bac going sideways all the time, we have in the team players who can get past a man and get crosses in Just need people to get on the end of them ! And probably the biggest thing of all is we need to Score first so we are not chasing the game , we saw how ineffective we were against Ayr , plenty endeavour but if you don`t score its no good !
This is a hard game to predict the score in , as we are still unpredictable , there is plenty talent in the side we just need to hope today everything fits into place
