Dundee 2 Celtic 0 after Rangers drawing with United yesterday; it used to be so simple for them - sign all the best Scottish players to strengthen their teams and weaken the opposition. Now they have to compete in the worldwide transfer market! It`s not fair!

Protest by the Celtic support at Dens.
Pathetic - If your unhappy with your board protest at Parkhead not at other clubs grounds.

It is joyous to see them both struggling.
A bit of a shame that it`ll be Hearts to benefit. I`d rather it were Aberdeen or Dundee Utd or Hibs, or Motherwell or Killie, but I`d still rather it was Hearts than Sevco or Celtic.

Nice to see both Glasgow clubs struggling but let`s be honest , with Celtic it`s only a blip.
I`d bet ma hoose (if I owned it) on Celtic winning the league at a canter again
Sevco on the other hand are in a world of hurt just now.

Rodgers engineering his way out with his comments. Bottom line is that team should be beating Dundee every day of the week. Rodgers is done and his players know that.
What a chance for Hearts to win the league.
Hearts are 9/4 to beat them next weekend. Great value.

I don`t think in this day and age the crowd size is a measure of how successful teams will be. The unintended consequences for the old firm are that in order to be successful they need to pay players disproportionately more than their income from supporters will cover. That`s why they rely on other forms of income. The smaller more agile clubs like Hearts, Hibs, the Dundee teams are probably built on a more robust financial model to some extent. The OF these days are a bit like the old proverbial battleship waiting to be blown out of the water by more modern cruisers. The current league model is not sustainable for Scottish football and I agree with other posters if the OF left for the EFL it would be for the betterment of Scottish football but I doubt they would do it as they would languish in the lower leagues, support would dwindle as they have been used to success in Scotland, and it may be cost prohibitive for some supporters to go to games or get in the car, on a bus, or train to travel south.

I would very much much enjoy the meltdown if Hearts were to go 8 points above Celtic. However my head says Hearts are punching above their weight and Celtic will sort their issues out soon enough. But I hope they can do a Leicester. It would make this season special in that League.

i`d have thought you were an auld enough fart to remember 1958-59, VEE. According to my dad, Hearts contrived to lose 2-1 to Celtic at Tynecastle, while Rangers lost to relegation threatened Aberdeen at Ibrox and so were crowned champions. Had Hearts beaten Celtic, they would have clinched the title.
You have to think Celtic fans went home feeling pretty miserable after that win. ๐

Well spotted - a wee bit before my memory banks were fully activated GG.
Your faither was on the money - the Bhoys would have been singing "There`s A Tear In My Beer" that evening !!!
They likely thought Rangers would do the business at home - both games played simultaneously in Glasgow as well !!!
Rangers at home going down to Aberdeen in a final and decisive league game of the season - as repeated in 1968, this time with a happy ending for the Tims !!!
So, that`s Hearts blown it bigtime on 3 occasions - I wonder if there`s been another nightmare drama - cue your old man !!!
Not forgetting that was also the day the Pars blitzed Partick Thistle 10-1 to avoid relegation by one point from Falkirk - they drew 2-2 with Raith Rovers with the future legendary John White missing a crucial penalty.
Not sure how that would have affected final league placings if the Bairns had won - it was goal average in those days.
How good is your arithmetic ?

I mean, heโs achieved even less than Martin in football and his playing career is pretty much non existent.
Surely the Rangers fans wont be overly enthusiastic about this appointment?
Naturally, it may work out for them of course.

I canโt remember the year but didnโt hearts have a good go at it with George Burley? Well for half a season until mad vlad wanted involved. Iโm sure they were a good amount of points in front of the OF at one point. I mind they done us 3-0 at EEP. Rudi Skacel ran the show.

Really odd appointment by Rangers but seems like a lot of the managers they approached said no. Can`t say I see the appeal of managing either club. Toxic.

I`ve officially decided that my Scottish Premier team of the season is Hearts. I`m rooting for them to continue their great form and win the league. I`ve had absolutely no interest in the Scottish Premiership for several seasons but now I have some reason to take interest. Hearts were excellent at Kilmarnock, great to watch as they knocked the ball about with real fluency. Breath of fresh air.

Burley only had 8 games at Hearts then was sacked by mad Vlad. The crazier thing out of that was how short a spell Vlad had at Hearts. Feels like it was decades but was only a short 9 year spell, of which he only had controlling stake for about 7 of those.
The BBC podcast on him is a great listen.

I`d bet my house you also have a copy of the B&W Magic book, so you can check out whether I was havering or not.
I take your word for it- my copy of B&W Magic is coming part.
I had no idea Hearts had had an earlier snatching defeat from the jaws of victory drama.
Their 1965 disaster was matched by our mess up at Hampden.
