That`s now seven Pars players called up for international duty for this phase of games. That`s got to be some kind of club record. It`s also great to be seen as a place to go for ambitious younger players.

I`d be interested to see how many other clubs in Scotland have this many players called up. I`d imagine Celtic and Hearts have more, but probably not too many others.

Also, when was the last time that there was a Scotland team with three Pars players in it? I really hope they all get on the pitch at the same time at some point.

I initially, and stupidly, thought Andrew Tod would never be taken seriously at a higher level because of his eye-wear. I`m ashamed of having thought that. Now I hope he never takes them off and becomes Scotland`s No. 9. He`s destined for the very top.

Some superheroes wear capes Andrew Tod wears glasses I genuinely think it won’t be long before we see him turning out for the senior squad hopefully we have his services for a few more seasons and he earns a big move down south where I have no doubt his career will go from strength to strength

Well done to all our young boys getting international call ups, but i think a bit of credit has to go to Neil Lennon as well for playing these guys and giving them a chance

In a way, NL was forced to give these guys a chance due to Kane, Rudden etc having injury problems. However, there is no doubt DL is managing and coaching them very well. Some credit probably needs to go to John McL for our home grown players as well.

The downside to having so many players away on international duty is the possibility they may pick up injuries if they play. Also, it`s not ideal for NL that he can`t work with all his players in preparation for our next match. I suppose these are problems that all successful clubs have to deal with.

It would have made sense to have a form goalscorer like Tod or Stewart in the squad in the first place. The strikers from the original squad list have only one league goal between them this season, with Rory Wilson and Emilio Lawrence yet to make their league debuts for Villa and City respectively and James Wilson not appearing for Hearts since August. Ryan Oné and Dire Mebude have at least been getting some minutes off the bench for their respective struggling teams, but have just the solitary goal between them, whereas Andrew and Barney have managed a dozen, albeit at a lower level.

adds to the frustration that these games clash with senior team games. Chances of getting from Motherwell at 7:15 to Hampden for 7:45 is extremley remote.

The striker who Falkirk have in on loan Trey Samuel-Ogunsuyi is absolutely miles off it.

Spoke to a few people at Falkirk on Saturday who all thought Barney was a better option which is hard to disagree with based on what I`ve seen this season from both.

I said when we signed Barney that I wasn`t keen. Far too raw, not had the quality but im delighted he seems to be proving me wrong so far!

C'mon Ye Pars!

I don`t think he really suits the way Falkirk play at the moment.

How would anyone feel about returning to Falkirk?

In all seriousness - hes not experienced the rivalry between our clubs, so I don`t think he`d be averse to moving here...but ultimately Falkirk are flying in the Premiership right now, so if he has the opportunities for premiership games with them, he should take it.

I think Barney has come on leaps and bounds with us. He has done well so far but you have to recognise its just been a few games. He needs to prove himself over a whole season. My gut tells me he will get more game time with us over a season than with Falkirk, and will develop more fully under the stewardship if the Pars management. Sometimes you have to walk before you can run. At 20 years old his best times are ahead, so small steps, learn the game in a first team competitive environment, gain experience and kick on next year. Everything comes to he who waits

As much as it pains me to say it, Falkirk are a level above. St Johnstone are pretty much walking the league despite being awful in the Premier. So it`s a reasonable step up for Barney. However, it`s always hard to tell and it doesn`t just come down to a single player.

"As much as it pains me to say it, Falkirk are a level above. St Johnstone are pretty much walking the league despite being awful in the Premier."

Once Valakari got the team going, they were competitive. They had 14 points from their first 20 games up until the turn of the year.

They took 18 points from the next 16, but then lost the penultimate game to Hearts and were relegated. They also got to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

Similarly, Ross County finished above them in the Premier League and appear to be not very good in the Championship - unless a team from Fife rocks up to play them.

Noticed somebody post at the weekend that the Italian based Bulgarian striker that fell through in the summer is back on and he will sign in January.

There don`t seem to be that many bulgarian strikers playing in Italy.

Possibly Mert Durmush, who plays for Ternana in Serie C, or Adrian Raychev who plays in Serie B for Frosinone on loan from Pisa.

I thought the SFA (?) wouldn`t authorise that transfer in the summer because the player didn`t meet the required criteria? Is that likely to change in January?

Barney`s main strength seems to be as a penalty box poacher. He has been good at anticipating the ball into the box. Andy Tod also has that ability, as do Chris Kane and Zach Rudden going by his limited appearances for us. That`s something that Lewis McCann never had. Barney may be deficient in other skills and I doubt he could become the main striker for Falkirk in the Premier League. I would think the best option for him in honing his skills and getting the playing time he needs, is staying with us till the end of the season.

Having had cramp many times in life, I can confirm that it’s one of the worst brief pains I’ve felt so if a player genuinely has it then definitely stop the game. But I know, it’s near impossible to know unless there’s a visible twitching in the area!

I was at the Falkirk Killie game last week and Falkirk were excellent, Barney wouldn’t get near that team. I think we’ll probably end up keeping him for the rest of the season and then he’ll go back there in a much better position to push for a place.

It`s pretty difficult to be an out and out striker in the top flight unless you are playing for one of the bigger teams, there will be games where you won`t see the ball, or just come on as an impact player.

It`s been a no lose scenario with Barney, we`re `fattening him up` in the meantime he`s been brilliant for us, Falkirk will be chuffed, they will get him back a much better player.

I didn`t expect him and Andrew Tod to be so consistent, they are very inexperienced, yet already are miles ahead of experienced players we`ve had in the past, a real headache for opposition teams.

Still got Zac to come back too, if any of them slow down a bit.

MacIver is injured (again) and, as good as he is, Graham doesn`t have it in him to play 90 minutes at that level anymore.

Still wouldn`t see them recall him. He`s been great for us so far but still a bit off that level IMO especially his hold up play if he was to play as a lone striker.
