Not a loan player but Lewis McCann has finally scored for fleetwood. I’d expect wee eck and co to be telling me I was wrong about him now.

Playing at an arguably higher level and getting game time. Good on him. Stop trying to get a narrative out of it.

His manager was praising him after the game, especially his `one on one defensive play` which he says he had to work on when he came to the club. Good to know Berkey`s keeping tabs on him. Disappointing crowd at Fleetwood though - less than 3,000.

Wish McCann nothing but the best. It was best for both parties that he moved on.
He freed up a space for Andy Tod to thrive and he`s found himself playing at a good level on good money I would imagine.

In fairness he`s not been playing up front for them - they`ve converted him to a wing back and he`s been getting good reviews for his performances there.

It`s interesting that the Fleetwood manager saw the potential to convert Lewis McCann into a wing back, one of the most demanding positions in football. In all the discussions on here about his strengths and weaknesses I don`t think anyone ever suggested he had the attributes for that role. Some of us didn`t think he had the basic attributes to succeed as a full-time professional footballer!

I do keep an eye on players such as McCann and Edwards etc.
Tbf wee eck, McCann at age 24 was released from one of the lowest placed full time teams in Scotland in the summer.
He seems to have got plenty of game time down there once he got into the team. I certainly couldn’t see him as a wing back here but I didn’t see him in any traditional position where he would have showed up well and we did have him on the left and up front etc. .
Barney at 21 already looks more like the player we thought McCann would be at that age.

I think you`re making my point for me, Berkey. The fact that McCann was released by a Scottish Championship club is neither here nor there. People who make their living assessing players and building teams are a lot more open-minded than fans who tend to make their minds up about players very early and that prevents them having the imagination to see them in a different role.

Agree. I hope he goes on to have a good career.
