Delighted to hear the Hibs end is sold out, as is the North Stand section. Miss the days where the away support were housed in there.
I suspect we’ll not sell out our end, so no doubt we’ll be back to the frustrating days of away support in the home end, fingers crossed that’s minimal though….and great that we’ve got a bit of a money spinner if nothing else.
I’m sure we’d all love to be back at this level on a weekly basis. Fingers crossed it’s soon.

What are you on about?
Pars have went about this the right way.
Offered season ticket holders first dibs to keep their seats and advertised a general sale well in advance.
Nothing we can do if Hibs fans risk coming into the Norrie or main stand.
It’s going to be a sell out and cracking atmosphere either way.
We should embrace such occasions.

I get your point, but I do see a few grumbles from our side, and can agree. By all means give them the Cowden and North East, but we haven`t even been given a chance to try to sell out the main stand, they literally went on General Sale today and we`ve already just given it up. There was nothing stopping the Pars giving Hibs the South East Enclosure next Friday if our sales indicated we wouldn`t need it.

Yeah, but no surprise. It`s nearly three weeks away so no rush. Different for them, I think they could fill East End with their ST holders alone, if they`re not in quick they miss out...and it`s their only chance to see their team in the cup this season.

All joking aside, I`m slightly concerned that there doesn`t seem to be anything in place stopping Hibs fans buying home tickets. If they sold their allowance so quickly, there`s obviously a big market still looking for tickets, and the home end can be bought by anyone with a bank card and Internet access.
I hope all home end tickets go to pars fans, but there`s potential for issues.

Hibs home attendances around the 18,000, so obviously they will have a bigger number looking for tickets.
The club obviously want to put as many bums on seats as possible.
Having away fans in home sections is far from ideal, however if it’s that or empty seats it’s down to straightforward economics.

I remember being in Aberdeen with work a few years back, sitting in a hotel room and it turned out Aberdeen were playing were playing Rangers that night. My colleague (a Partick fan) and I decided to head along, as we normally did if we were in a town and a game was on. Unfortunately we didn’t get tickets for the game because Aberdeen had a policy against the Old Firm that if you weren’t on the database previously, they wouldn’t sell you a ticket for the home end. No matter how much I tried to prove I wasn’t a Rangers fan….it didn’t matter.
I think this might be pretty common practice…if not, then clubs can certainly do it if they wanted

It’s not something new to have away fans on our end. Was very common in the 80’s when we had terracing and 18000 in the ground.
Thankfully they tended to stand together and generally behaved themselves.
Even Rangers fans.
It is a rare thing for the away end being sold out these days so it’s never been a problem for such a long time and if or when we get promoted, we would have to go down different routes to stop it.
I think the premier league doesn’t do online tickets to try combat this so you actually have to show up at the home ground to purchase physical tickets and give your address etc

This situation only arises where the visiting club has an uncommonly large travelling support and demand for tickets significantly exceeds the normal away fans section(s) of the ground.
Falkirk don`t come into that category, Hibs do.
As I said not ideal.

To answer your general question, it`s up to each club and will depend on the size of the stadium, the demand for tickets from their own fans and whether they need the money. Ideally they would want as many home fans as they can get - but if they can sell an extra 5000 tickets at perhaps £20 each for seats that would otherwise be empty, it`s hard to see why they wouldn`t do so.
Specifically for DAFC, I don`t get the impression we are giving up seats - there seem to be enough for all the Pars fans who want to attend.

What are they going to do? Apply some rubbish stickers to the back of seats? Badly graffiti "Block 7" in the toilets? They wouldn`t be smart enough to keep their goba shut and would be chucked out almost immediately. I`d be more concerned about shoplifting and car thefts with that mob around.

The recent rangers Man U game at old Trafford. I have been to old Trafford several times over the past few years and I purchased tickets for this for me and me son. A week later they cancelled my tickets. I got it sorted in the end after a phone call but there is ways to prevent it if you ask for certain information. Even if you have to have an account with each club. This is how I was allowed the tickets as they searched the rangers data base and could see I’ve not applied for any rangers tickets nor am I registered on their ticketing platform.

We were actually in the away end for that game. Not exactly sure the circumstances that led to that. Most uncomfortable game I`ve ever been to. Seeing your team score twice and not being able to cheer it then or celebrate the Brown sending off.

I was working turnstiles - missed the first goal.
After turnstiles closed, was put as a steward with my brother, directly up from the corner, behind Beedie’s corner for the second goal - I let out one cheer, and a thousand p1ssed off mutant faces turned towards us…
Head steward summoned us all to get out of the crowd and onto the cinder track - thankfully!

Whilst I`m sure 99% on both sides have no beef with each other now, some of the more senior on here will remember what the Hibs/Pars/Inverkeithing tension was like in the late 80s,early 90s,and even more recently. In its day, Hibs at EEP would make the current Falkirk/Pars ultras look like a Sunday school picnic. There are some on both sides who still remember the Kronk, and related incidents.
I hope it goes smoothly, but I`d be lying if I said I wasn`t slightly twitchy.
Historically speaking, this isn`t the innocent fixture that some on here think, and fans mixing in the home end could be dangerous.

in fairness although i mentioned Celtin 98 above i remember Hibs at the same time having a huge following in a relegation battle and a very unsavory atmosphere with reports of lots of bother along bottom of townhill road/bellyeoman and up into east port.

I remember he pushed down to the front to speak to a Policeman, to tell him to get them out of there, and the copper told him to calm down and f. Off, or he`d be the one getting arrested, which didn`t go down well
"Dunfermline Two, the Rangers Wan, oh what a thrill tae beat the Souness man!"

Funnily enough I was on turnstiles as well that game in the home end.
Heard a cheer and wasn’t sure who for as Rangers fans were nearest my turnstile.
Was delighted to look towards NW area and fans bouncing about.

"No matter how much I tried to prove I wasn`t a Rangers fan" certainly creates some strange images 🤔
😂😂 it was no much more than giving my folks home address (as I no longer live in the area), and show my season ticket which I keep in my wallet 😂😂
Surely a quick knuckle check would have sufficed?

That was the cup tie where John Brown “re-arranged” the away dressing room after being sent off …..allegedly.
It was said that the referee, Alan Ferguson,“travelled in ladies underwear” - he owned a lingerie business 😂 in an affluent suburb of Glasgow.

Amazing numbers, it`s going to be great to see EEP at near-capacity, but I can`t shake the concern that there will be a sizeable number of Hibees in our end. I dont think there`s much the club could do to stop it, but it wouldn`t be an ideal situation

I think there may be a few Hibees in the home part of the main stand, but will be more Pars fans buying tickets in the next few days , always seems to be a late rush. Will be the biggest crowd at EEP for a while.

I can`t help wondering why attitudes and behaviours have changed so much since we had no segregation at football matches. As young fans, we used to change ends at halftime and stand behind the goal the Pars were attacking, and there was never a hint of aggro. The only exceptions were the visits of the OF, and that was simply because the terraces were too packed to allow an easy transfer. On the rare occasions we tried it, we gave up as it was just too difficult to get through.
There were no stewards, and usually, two police officers who walked in opposite directions around the track and they`d stop and chat for a few minutes when their paths crossed. Perhaps older Pars fans will correct me if I`m misremembering anything? Why is it now such an issue if fans of other teams sit among home fans?

Presumably you will also remember a time where there was trouble at most games, and that has only stopped due to heavy police involvement, stewarding, and segregation?

I think it depends on who goes in the wrong end.
I sat in the Raith end when he hammered them 2-1. It did remove a bit of my enjoyment but I suspect it was definitely warmer and dryer on a wet day.
I would regard it as being quite different if folk are buying tickets because the away end is full.
Much higher chance of folk not being able to cool their jets if someone celebrates a goal.
That being said, it is a responsibility of supporters of both teams to act like grown ups.
It is a game of football. No more, no less.

Some redress:
We were actually in the away end for that game. Not exactly sure the circumstances that led to that. Most uncomfortable game I`ve ever been to. Seeing your team score twice and not being able to cheer it then or celebrate the Brown sending off.
I was in home end enclosure at main stand next to the away dugouts then (now home dugout) had a female Gers fan try to fight me when brown got sent off🤣
Also heard the racket when souness about took door off the dressing room etc at half time

I`m 60 next year, so can remember pre segregation.
EEP generally didn`t get any trouble at all, but I started going every week from 7- so the crowds had dived already, and we were lower league.
The only times I can remember was Aberdeen in the cup at home when bottles were flying- there was police segregation, but was a bit of a mess.
I can also remember Hearts in the 2nd tier, when stanchions collapsed in the Hearts end.
Away to the wee team, when we changed ends at half time, I can remember lots of scuffles going through the old wooden roofed railway stand
Got to say, violence has been rare at EEP, It`s something I`ve successfully avoided my whole life anyway, in the games where away fans have been in the home end (ugly sisters) it`s not been pleasant, but I didn`t see anything.

Gg`s memories are mostly correct, changing ends at half time, not alot of aggro apart from the OF.
No cage in those days though some problems when Killie came through, Raith and Cowdenbeath were insignificant.
Guys like Harvey Jones raised it to the next level!
Absolutely nothing like the North Bank at Highbury when Spurs came visiting in 1969 during the skinhead days, it was like World War 3!

Just out of interest, can anybody remember the last time EEP was sold out?? I don’t think I’ve seen it sold out in its current form. Close too it a few times (Arsenal game and others spring to mind) but the last complete sell out that I remember, was the “Craig Falconbridge Celtic game”

Oooo I found it ~ aye, Tuesday 7th March 2023, ChilliPar
“It was maybe just three points but a really big result in front of 9530 spectators, the biggest crowd for a home match since December 2013.
It was first v second when Dunfermline faced Falkirk in this fixture which was originally schedule for 2nd January but frozen off by a cold blast that day. The cold weather returned for this fixture but the undersoil heating was the first winner of the evening.
The decisive goals came in the second half. On 67 minutes a Chalmers delivery from the right was right on top of the keeper but BREEN was able to rise and powerfully head the ball over the line. 1-0
Then eight minutes later harassed by Macdonald, Morrison put his keeper under pressure with a pass back that he tried to clear. Wighton charged down the keeper`s kick and Ritchie-Hosler headed on for TODD to stick it low inside the right post. Matty`s tenth goal of the season made it 2-0.
Dunfermline’s sparkling second half performance earned them the result, opening up an eight point advantage over Falkirk.”

I’m no sociologist but I did catch the latter half of the 1970’s and trouble seemed to brew around that time at grounds with no segregation.
First time I saw it at East End was vs Dundee about 1980 where there were bottles being thrown between both sets of fans in the NW area.
Pars had just been promoted from the old second division so much more fans to deal with.
The barriers came fairly soon after that.
Then came the infamous cup final with Celtic and Rangers and the game has not been the same since.

Rovers game `never ten yairds` was a quick sell out- could have sold double I reckon.
Hacken can`t have been far off- I was in NE stand! It was a bit of a farce.
That Falkirk game was rammed too- thanks Buffy- I`m guessing the empty seats were the empty NE stand? I seem to remember we weren`t allowed to open that, and I was lucky to get a ticket.
As for GG, there`s been entire books written about a general malaise in UK early 70s, with nothing seeming to work (.........) a lot as a repercussion of the oil crisis, which hammered Everything on top of that. But crowds in Scotland were on a long slide, recovering in 80s , I`m guessing people just transferred `gang` behaviour onto football games? I`m not one of those that thinks violent behaviour is at a high, or things are terrible, I guess these things are cyclical- at the moment everything is polarised, which goes with uncertainty, what also goes with uncertainty is people reaching to extremes for solutions - that never works out well.

No issue with that, like you said, exactly how it should be.
If there were any near “The Cage” then they kept their heads down because I couldn’t spot them……however it was a flashback to when I first started going to games, with the away support in the North East section. No idea why the club don’t do that with Arbroath, Queens Park or when League 1 or 2 clubs come in the cup.

The NE couldn’t be opened for the Falkirk game because that section of the stadium had been shut for years. They tried to open it in time for that game but if I remember right there was a plumbing issue and even though it got sorted they couldn’t get the safety certificate quick enough.
That’s my memory of it 🤷🏻♂️
