First of all I hope everyone enjoyed their night after that yesterday. I can’t help but feeling there is something special brewing at the club right now. Of course week to week there are disappointments but overall you can see the talent of these boys and the speed of progression for some of them is very exciting. With a manager like NL I’d argue there isn’t a better manager about for this type of project.
I think it’s important to note how tough a period we’ve been through in our recent history with nearly losing our club, 7th placed league 1 finishes and failed play off/relegations. As many fans in my generation in their early 20s or younger have only really known us as being utter sh1te, yet our support is as strong as ever.
Today I got more of an understanding as to what an outsider’s perspective may be on the clubs potential and it makes it easier to see why the Germans and Bord & Co. have felt we are a club worth getting involved with. I can’t remember a giant killing like that for a long long time with us and I don’t think you can underestimate what a sustained period of success for the club could do for our long term future. Looking at clubs like St mirren and St Johnstone with regular cup runs and Europe what that could potentially do for us with section NW, the growth of the city’s population and the number of young fans at games now.
Perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself but it feels like a tide is turning and as long as everything is above board off the pitch let’s enjoy the ride. COYP!
