I can’t see us catching Arbroath so it’s about a four team fight for fourth place.

Draw definitely best result. We should be aiming to catch Arbroath more than looking over at shoulder so if not a draw I’d much prefer a Morton win.

The referee has to consider the game as a spectacle.
It’s as farcical a game as I’ve seen, and resembles nothing like a normal game of Football.

I`ll never understand why anyone would not want a team below us to take points off a team above us.
Surely by virtue of the fact they lost to a team below us, we most certainly do have a chance of catching them.

Anyone who has played football in strong wind knows there is no real advantage either way outside of a defence opening up like the red sea and inviting shots on goal.
Keeping the ball on the deck is always the best option whether with the wind or against it,
This was a mess of a game but a draw about right.

I think you`ll find that logical, though your consideration is, it`s not true. I remember a Boxing day game v Aberdeen, going ahead in very foggy conditions. The Aberdeen fans in the East Stand couldn`t see the goal at the Norrie end and sang a song to say as much after their team opened the scoring. They only realised Aberdeen were ahead when they saw their players celebrating and the game restarting. The Pars eventually won 3-2.
The ref only needs to be able to see both goals from the halfway line. Last night, the ref could only call off or abandon the game if he believed the safety of the players was compromised by the conditions. There`s no consideration for the fans in the Rules of the Game.

That’s not quite true either, he can call the game off if the ball won’t stay still for restarts and/or the trajectory is severely impacted.
I don’t know if the guidance in Scotland is different but the Premier League website in England specifically mentions “There are two main considerations to make when a referee conducts a pitch inspection: player safety and the match as a spectacle”.
When conditions take over a game to the extent they did last night, then the game shouldn’t be played.

I didn`t see the game last night, Westie, so I don`t know how bad the conditions were, but the Rules of the Game should be the same everywhere. I didn`t know about the trajectory of the ball or it staying still. I`m sure you`ll have seen a player keeping a finger on the ball while a teammate takes a corner next to the undercroft, where it`s often like a wind tunnel.
One thing I am sure of is that the welfare and safety of the fans is not in the remit of the ref. Only Police Scotland can call a game off for those reasons.

Yes I don’t think it was unsafe although there was a few tangles with the ball being blown back over players heads.
I have seen “pitch inspection guidance” from the FA that references whether “conditions are or could turn farcical “It also says “ remember there is a responsibility to paying spectators “ in terms of fog. I’m not aware of publicly available guidance from a Scottish perspective, but like you say the rules of the game should be the same everywhere.
There are some laughable clips from last night doing the rounds. I think the ball went out the ground from a goal kick maybe 5/6 times.
I read a post on Arbroath social media that cracked me up “ the ball spent more time on the roof than it did on the pitch “, which probably summed the game up.

The best thing about this game was seeing how the side managed the conditions . No safety issues whatsoever . It was just very windy .
The nfl goes ahead no matter what basically . There was a blizzard in Denver Sunday and they kept going . Commentator goes : Well I’d love to tell you where the ball is folks but it would be a wild guess !!

I kid you not, this happened to me playing on there when I played for HMS Neptune (Faslane) v Condor in a charity match. The ref blew for a break and decided with the captains that for Goal Kicks, we would play like the kids do with someone playing out from the back and opposition players couldn’t come into the area haha.

16 corners on Friday night which is way above what you`d normally be looking at in a professional game between two fairly closely matched teams.
It`s funny for about 2 minutes as a neutral seeing the goal kicks coming back at the goalie but totally spoils the game as a spectacle.

Whats even funnier is how they were split, 6-1 to Morton in the 1st half and 8-0 to Arbroath in the 2nd. I caught one or two bets on social media. Trailing 6-1 in the corner count at HT, Arbroath were available at 50`s and 66`s in a race to 9 with a well known firm.
Unsurprisingly, tonights KDM Evolution trophy game v Airdrie is OFF

Jim McLean had a rant once about the wind factor Ina Dundee United game and people were listening and probably thinking, ok, yeah Jim, but he was absolutely correct. And that was in the days of playing in snow, orange balls, sanded pitches, you name it.
