Would you believe it! Another penalty for Rangers which Tavernier converts as Killie are reduced to 10 men.
Falkirk 1-0 up at Livi and Barney had a goal chalked off for offside.

That puts Rangers into equal second with Motherwell for penalties in the league this season with 6, still one behind Hibernian.....

I’m surprised no one higher than Falkirk have made bids for Barney. He’s a cracker of a player.

I think we have only had 5 penalties in the league in 2 and a half seasons. The only one we have had this season was in the league cup I`m sure

That had to be a red card for James Tavernier. Put his arm round the Killie forward as he raced past him. Last man tackle. We get Hamilton sent off for a professional foul that was more like a yellow. Does make one think it`s not a level playing field.

I thought that the ref can only give a penalty and a red card for a violent tackle otherwise it`s only a yellow at most. Isn`t that the "double jeopardy" rule? No way was that a violent challenge and how come VAR didn`t get involved?

If it’s not a genuine attempt to play the ball then it’s a red. That was a very dubious red card.

Barney had a solid game, put himself about and some of his link up was good as well.
Pains me to say but Falkirk are very decent. So quick and athletic and everything they do is at a high tempo.
C'mon Ye Pars!

It was definitely not an attempt to play the ball, red card all day

Apparently, there’s 2 big coloured buttons in the VAR control room.
When the supervisor presses the red one, screen says “penalty to Rangers”.
When he presses the blue one, it says “now press the red one”.
True story….😦

I`m no Rangers fan, but if that`s the rule, the red card is justified. A bit harsh though. It looks like the defender was trying to shoulder charge his opponent but he was too quick for him and got across him so that it ended up being a foul.
In those circumstances, a penalty and a yellow would suffice, imo. Rangers would have had every chance to score from the pen (which they did) compared to the chance denied them. Killie were effectively punished twice for the same offence. They`d have done well to take even a point at Ibrox, with 11 men.

I agree with you GG, but unfortunately, those aren`t the rules, the double jeopardy scenario only applies to when it is a genuine attempt to play the ball.
Kilmarnock have to look at themselves as well, that is 9 penalties they have conceded in the league this year, it shows why they are near the bottom as their defending is of a poor standard

Hibs showed in our recent cup tie that they have problems defending corners and so it proved last night with both United goals coming from that source. United were no better, failing to defend two late free kicks into their box which cost them the game. Managers and coaches are always stressing the importance of defending set plays into the penalty box but they continue to be a significant source of goals at all levels of football. To be fair, the Hibs` winner was an exceptional effort but the other three goals were the result of poor defending.
