Does anyone know what`s happening with Jefferson Caceres? He`s still currently listed as the most valuable player in the division. Money not well spent so far.

Apparently he is struggling to settle and we are trying to sort him a move.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Can’t be easy for him. Struggled to get a regular start, now out of the match day squad. Homesick, driech weather and his Mrs is expecting.
If he goes back to Peru he is back at square one.

If he can keep on battling find a way back into the squad and get in the starting 11 for the Cup Final then I am sure he will be feeling a whole lot better..

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

I had high hopes for him but he`s been a disappointing signing.

More worrying is that if the AI picked him out as being worth Sheffield United paying £1,700,000 to play for them in the English Championship, and it turns out he isn`t good enough for the Scottish Championship

Maybe AI can`t anticipate whether a player will settle in a foreign country.

I wonder if the sending off was like the straw that broke the camel`s back. Let`s face it, he was pretty upset by the Partick guy manhandling him. And afterwards, in post-match, NL chuckled when he said he can`t do that (i.e. nut the oppo). I was furious at the Jag and hoping NL would have expressed a bit of sympathy for Jeffo.

There`s been times during matches when he`s clearly dumbfounded when in a good position and our player with the ball fails to pass to him. And (- frustratingly for himself and us -) he`s missed a few decent chances to score. All disappointing for him, especially since, when he arrived, he seemed to have an idea that he could be instrumental in transforming the team and the club`s fortunes:

I`m not knocking him, I just think he had no real idea of the size of the challenge. There are the footballing difficulties, and then there`s the language, and other issues.

It might have been quite galling to get a three match ban for facing up to a thug.

Yeh but would they have got away scot free? Am I right in thinking the Partick bloke who was playing rugby rules wasn`t booked and they got the free kick?

He was really good up until that Partick game, since then he`s really struggled.

It`s a cruel game, and to be honest it`s about overcoming adversity- there`s plenty setbacks in football, and unlike most jobs there isn`t anywhere to hide

Good luck to him, clearly has a lot on his plate - I worked for a year with a wholly Chinese speaking company, and it can be a bit grim, another job was wholly Italian - that was ok, but can be hard -nothing compared to football though.

If he made it here he will know it could be life changing - football salary in Peru is extremely low, if he could get a gig in Spain (more visa troubles) it would be lower league probably - again, low salary.

All these players you wish the best, they make huge sacrifices that usually don`t work out.

He’s played a fair few games since the Red. Started in the 2-2 v St Johnstone and the 4-0 away to Airdrie.

-----------------------------------------------------

If his career was derailed by that alone, I might have agreed with you. But I`m sure most would realise I didn`t mean it was the one and only thing.

Mind you, his manager was full of "consolation":

"I`m really angry with Jefferson, really angry because I made it clear after the game on Tuesday that after Jerry got sent off, team discipline was paramount and for him to do that is just totally unacceptable."

Plus The Dunfermline Press made a meal I mean headline of it.

Well maybe that`s it. Maybe he`s just a thug and he`s miffed because he can`t get to play by rugby rules or act like Ben Grimm.

You might not be a million miles off the mark with that, Indiapar. He and his partner are expecting a baby soon, so it`ll be an anxious time for them, in a foreign land with miserable winter weather, few friends, and little English.

Prob the most hopeful I’ve been in recent years when he signed, went for big money to Sheffield United not long before and they were freeing up a slot for someone rather than wanting him out the door from a footballing point of view.

But alas he’s consigned to join a long list of players you had hopes for that just fell away. Not sure if we paid anything for him and assume he’s on very good wages so if it free’s us up for next season it’s good for all parties.

I guess he wasn`t so homesick in Sheffield. He`s a footballer, but you think it`s nothing to do with football? OK, we`re all of us only guessing, and I doubt if he`d tell all in public even if he was asked.

Good luck to him though and if he goes, at least J Bord is likely to help.

I believe he has 18 months left on his contract. I think he said that NL felt he needed to bulk up a bit, so, maybe he has been working on that. I have no doubt he has the talent and skill but the championship is a physical league that makes it tougher for him. Its tough being away from home but if he can work hard over the next few months he can perhaps leave himself in a better position to move on if thats what he feels he needs to do. Anyone who has worked in another country knows it takes 12 months or so to settle down its harder for a partner I think if you dont speak the language and dont have a close circle of friends.

Well, that`s a big message to the player, reading between the lines there he needs to do more in training if he wants to make the match day squad. Lennon has shown he will keep the door open for those that work hard. I understand he might be homesick, and dealing with a cold, damp, dark winter, but he needs to up his game or otherwise he will be back in Peru and not be getting the big money a player of his skill could earn in Europe
