From The Courier,
Dunfermline Athletic owner James Bord is reportedly being sued by a former business partner over his investment in Spanish club Cordoba.
According to an article in the Times, Canadian poker player Jonathan Cohen has lodged a legal complaint against his former business associate and friend, Bord, in Nevada, USA.
Cohen has alleged that Bord assured him Cordoba, who are part-owned by the Pars chief, were debt free when he made his investment in 2024, when they were actually “around $23 million in debt”.
That is just one of seven reported claims Cohen has made against Bord which the Times say include “fraudulent inducement,” “unjust enrichment” and a “breach of confidence”.
A spokesperson for Bord has responded to the story, saying: “This is a deeply upsetting matter for James, who has over the past few years helped and supported Jonathan financially and personally, and has long considered him a friend.
“Due to this now being subject to legal proceedings in the US, we can offer no further comment.”
News of the legal dispute was broken against the background of Bord’s ongoing bid to take ownership at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Dunfermline custodian’s three-man consortium, which also includes a German AI entrepreneur and a Jordanian royal, was named as the “preferred bidder” for Wednesday by the club’s administrator, Begbies Traynor, on Christmas Eve.
The EFL has yet to confirm whether the takeover will be given the go-ahead.

Not despite all of this. He was named preferred bidder in advance of this.

Which they have stated he is still preferred bidder today after this came to light yesterday.
