A lot being said about JCM wearing the armband.
Is it really because we`re trying to convince him to stay, or is that pure conjecture?
I`m finding it hard to believe that we`d go to those lengths.
Such an important role. No doubt he`s a really promising player, just don`t see him as the type of person to fire players up, especially when we go behind. It`s not a criticism, simply that not everybody possesses these skills. Wonder if he is really into it or wishes someone else was wearing the armband?
Only alternative regular starter I can think of right enough is Charlie Gilmour.

Has to be the reason he’s wearing it atm, to try lure him into a new contract.
As Hamilton started the Airdrie game and JCM had the armband, yet Hamilton is the vice captain of the club.

I do find it really odd that the actual team captain is on the bench and has been for a few weeks and playing zero minutes.
At times I feel we lack a vocal leader on the pitch.

Nobody knows and I find it hard to believe that Lennon is giving it to him to try and keep him.
Ultimately, we don’t see what goes on at training or behind the scenes, and we don’t hear what is said on the park. If Lennon feels that JCM sets the standards, is a good communicator and everything he wants in a captain, then that’s fine by me.

Couldn`t care less who wore an armband on match day.
Certain players will have more strengths than others and vice versa.

Bene is done and legs gone to play in a back 3 or even a 4.
I would put my quickest striker up against him and he would crumble in a game..

I suspect Hoolie has the right of it here, the legs aren’t there. We generally push our centre backs quite high when we have the ball which we can afford to do because they have pace. If you put Bene in you’d need to drop the whole back line deeper to avoid him getting roasted in a foot race. That is most likely why we aren’t playing him.
It’s a shame because he’s been a good captain and demonstrated some good leadership over the last couple of years. Maybe it’d be nice to see him stay on in a coaching role.
