Hilarious. Months of chasing every possible foreign coach and interviews they`ve decided to go for the coach down the road. No wonder Dons fans are raging.

I honestly don’t think there are any team in Scotland that would make him leave at this current moment. He’s not going to the old firm or hearts anyway. I do wonder what will be the next step for Lennon. I’d like to see him in charge of the national side. That would be controversial though considering how many muppets are involved in Scottish football.

Agreed, Zod. Pressure of expectations would be much higher at Pittodrie. Pars would be happy to reach the Premiership and consolidate our place. Aberdeen think they should be challenging for the title and winning cups.

I think Lennon has had enough of all that comes with a high pressure job. He could be sacked in a month.
Too much pressure and he doesn`t need it.
He has won titles and cups. Dunfermline is a new challenge for him. Here he has a chance to truly build a legacy.
At a top club he will soon be forgotten and just be one of many managers rarely mentioned again.
If he succeeds in developing and maintaining the Pars into a top 6 team, he will get legend status and be spoken about for years to come.
Shades of Jock Stein I recon.

I think if we somehow do the unthinkable and reach the SC Final and make the playoffs, then vultures will be circling. Regardless of the "project", his head will be turned by the right club.

I think Robinson would be a fantastic appointment for Aberdeen, but jeezo, they have made a meal of things. I know St.Mirren have had a bad time of it recently, but he’s a good manager who knows how to build and team and has done well at Motherwell & St.Mirren.

As for the comments about Lennon…..there’s very little loyalty in football these days, I’d imagine if a club like Aberdeen wanted him he would at least have a chat. I’m not sure his face fits at that level just yet (his record since Hibs hasn’t been great) but who knows in the next year or two.

I’ve no doubt Lennon has a big ego that needs stroked but as it stands, he’s won nothing with us so he’ll want to have some kind of legacy to fall back on should he eventually leave.
He seems to be a manager that wants to finish a project before moving on.
I think that is promotion to the premier league regardless of how we do in the cup.

Lennon would be mad to go to Aberdeen. They habitually sack decent managers. How stupid do they look when 2 managers they have sacked are sitting above them in the league, one of whom is top with a good chance of winning, and they are approaching a manager currently below them in the league?

I think everyone has an ego, but with this project I think he is actually quite humble. The emotion in his words and face on Saturday’s interview told a story and I think he is confident in his beliefs more than it being ego.
Totally agree that I think he wants to see it through and the aim is the Premier League.
Will be an interesting last couple of months of the season.

Maybe so but he couldn’t stay just because of a chance of another final.
The alternative is Celtic beat them and Saints in a relegation playoff.
Might seem a no win scenario but he’s putting himself first and a new challenge.

Agreed. I think he is happy here and doesn`t need the hassle. He could go on to be one of our longest serving gaffers and bring stability after all the recent changes.

Aberdeen supporter at my work didn’t want him, the Penguin, or the Motherwell manager. That seemed to be the consensus on their forum as well. They all wanted a foreign manager. They really are clueless when it comes to getting the right man for the job.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Genuinely think he’ll be a good appointment for them. I think it’s mad that it’s take all this time just to move for him, but I think he’ll be a good appointment if he gets time.

I know this (league) season hasn’t been great, but St.Mirren fans might be worried because there’s probably no obvious replacement out there for him, and these are big shoes to fill.

Lenny seems content away from the West coast bigotry.
He probably made pals with some Hearts fans in our cup game with them the way he had banter with them as well.
He’d be mad to go back that direction anytime soon.

I think he will stay until we start expecting too much and the Lennon out crap begins.

I think Lennon is enjoying the challenge of managing us from a low point and trying to push the club to the premiership. He`s said it multiple times that it`s different for him and I imagine in terms of pressure it`s pretty minimal compared to some of his previous jobs which I`m sure is a welcome change.

Realistically for a club like St Mirren, they`ve won a cup and had top half finishes in recent memory, even if you go in and do well, chances are you`ll just get back to that same point.

He already said it after Saturday that was one of his biggest achievements ever as a manager if you look at where we`ve been as a club and when he took over.

He`s beaten Hibs and Aberdeen in the same cup run without conceding a goal and not just purely by a smash and grab, especially in the latter game where we thoroughly dominated them. I can`t remember that happening in a very long time against top flight opposition.

Stephen Robinson probably owes us one. If we hadn`t beaten Aberdeen so comprehensively last Saturday their directors would probably have continued to pursue their plan to defer a final decision until the close season. The prospect of being involved in, and possibly losing, a relegation dogfight must have concentrated their minds.

As to the possible interest of St Mirren in NL, he seems set on the `project` with us but football is a fickle business and managers seem to be easily tempted to transfer to a new `project` before they`ve achieved their cuŕrent one. Stephen Robinson proves that, leaving St Mirren to avoid relegation and play a SC semi-final to rebuild Aberdeen.

Lennon was named on the Open Goal podcast as well, James McFadden and Derek Ferguson said he probably wouldn’t go and Ferguson also said we were a bigger club than St.Mirren, if he could get us going again.

I think Aberdeen would have tempted him, but surely not St.Mirren
