Not sure if posted elsewhere but Easton and imrie were arguing after he was taken off. He threw something when got to dugout and then they exchanged words. Clearly ruffled gaffers feathers so hauled them in for Sunday training. To add tho taking Easton off was a silly sub he always looks dangerous.

Imrie must be worried, not least about his job. They haven`t made any progress since he took over and maybe he`s just realising what a nest of vipers he`s inherited.

Funny to hear Imrie complaining that his team were not mean enough, leaving the foot in - unlike previously when the wee team were the dirty bassas.

Imrie made a couple pf important comments during his post match interview.
1. He has inherited the squad
2. Some players think they should be playing at a higher level than they are
These comments were mixed in with support for the players the need to improve and ultimately the buck stops with him. He probably needs to limp along make to the end of the season and start again. I thought myself there were players in the RR team that werent playing for him. On the flip side professionally you should go out every week and try to do your best. There may be ups and downs in performances but it shouldnt be due to lack of effort.

I disagree tbh, he didnt look dangerous on saturday anyways, always a backwards pass, and if he did play it forward it was wild and overhit, also turley had him in his back pocket most of the game

Yep that was my thought after listening to his interview. If I were to read between the lines at RR and recent events, I suspect that they have little room to manouvre financially and perhaps he has been brought in to"do more with less" to quote typical management terminology when someone has been brought in to make changes.

No, evo, Hughes was far more scathing. He mentioned how they turned up in their fancy cars on the Monday morning, laughing and joking after losing 5-0 v relegation rivals St Mirren. Imrie`s post-match comments were far more measured in comparison, although he didn`t miss them.

Other than his shot that went just wide I agree but I was more meaning he’s a player who can get you a goal from nothing even if he’s been poor. Was happy to see him go off.

Their squad is so poor, so to then have Brown, McMullan and Byrne out leaves them very short.
Innes Cameron looked pretty limited. However, after whatever happened that he went crazy at the ref, he suddenly was a man possessed. Maybe a rocket is what they all needed.
Their performance reminded me a bit of a McPake team, not in style but in fielding little creativity, falling behind, and having no way to respond.
I do wonder how much that supposed `bumper` deal for Easton, coming at a similar time to their investors backing off, has actually screwed them up.

I think he`s realised that most of the pensioners are signed up for next season as well, so he`s lumbered with them- we had this in the past "experience" that just turns out to be toxic and injured a lot.
He`s a good manager, but the Rovers keep sacking decent managers. Turns out if you sign a whole load of guys in their 30s it`s just one last payday, and no motivation.
Looks like the players, and the budget will be cut a lot next season I`m sure .

When I heard Brown was out I thought it would be a difficult day for them. Easton is much less effective when Brown doesn’t play, and Raith have relied heavily upon Easton for a while now, so when he goes off the boil, does that mean the whole team doesn’t play. They are absolutely now in the relegation mix. Personally I want them to stay up, but very much want them to suffer so I can enjoy what we have had to endure from them for the last couple of seasons. As that is our last game against them, I truly hope their form picks up now as they will take points from our rivals for the 3/4 spot if that is the case

Certainly in the first half - they didn`t turn up until the second 45 mins.
I seriously doubt they were called in for training on a Sunday - what would that achieve ?
Would only cause resentment in an already unsettled dressing room.

I thought that was a terrible performance from the wee team on Saturday and I think Easton and Vaughan let them down badly. Forgot Vaughan was on until he was subbed. Dylan Easton looked disinterested. Wee team need a clear out. Easton must have been kicking himself for taking the money in summer

In the space of 10 years in his career from 2012 until 2022 at raith, Easton had played for 11 mostly part-time diddy clubs. That’s not really a good look. Is there something about his character that’s not right? We were right not to sign him.

I dunno Zod, sometimes it just takes something to click and a player can really step up his game. Same happened with Joe cardle who we scooped up from airdrie and he turned out pretty good.
This league is brutal if you are not on your game both physically and mentally. Being even just slightly off really shows as your constantly facing a physical test against hatchet men.
If they players are not 100% committed in challenges etc then they either want rid of imrie or suspect they will be away in the summer and don’t want to get an injury or a combination of both!
We’ve all seen it the last few years, when the intensity drops in this league you don’t get many points and you can’t carry many players.

Tbh iv never rated Imrie as a manager. Letting Murray go was the worst decision they made.
As for Easton i think he would have made a big difference for us at the start of the season with experience etc but we have brought players in and the team is full in confidence now.

Motivating players who are coming to the end of their contracts must be a problem for all clubs, not just the Rovers. Dealing with that and the various ramifications must be a big part of management and they only recently appointed someone to replace John Potter as general manager/chief executive so that might be a factor. On the other hand they do have the carrot of a place in the Challenge Cup final team to dangle as an incentive!

On the other hand players are playing for a new contract. Might be some that have things in place but at our level the next step down is PT.

I don`t think there`s an issue with Easton at Raith, but there`s clearly an issue at Raith. Although Easton comes across a bit like a panto villain, he`s a nice guy and used to work really well with the kids at the Joe Cardle academy.
There`s clearly unrest at Raith who I`d say got overly cocky, sacked a decent manager and have struggled since. They`re now in similar hire and fire cycle as we were. Who wants to play at a club where the manager is constantly looking over his shoulder checking if the CEO is about to cut you or your playing budget?

I think the age of the Raith team is an issue and Dougie Imrie clearly recognises that players have downed tools to a degree when they know they might not get a new contract even if they somehow went up which they won’t now.
It’s nothing new in football but he has a huge job rebuilding that squad next season.

I`m not sure they`ve necessarily "downed tools"
Most of their squad just isn`t that good. I wouldn`t have any if their players in our team as it stands
As for their latest signing Big Innes......he makes Roddy Grant look mobile

I thought the same. The red flag signs at RR are similar to us a few seasons ago. No doubt Dylan Easton made a choice that he felt best for him at the time. The harder decision at the time would have been to come to us. Im sure there were several factprs he had to consider with respect to his future. We all make choices. At the end of the day, things happen for a reason. I think with the decisions the manahement have made, we are in a good position. I think that Callum Morrison has come in and he has given 100%. Has taken a few weeks to get up to speed, but I am always wary of players who come in, are great in their first game then fade away. Likewise for players like Olly Thomas, Keiran etc etc. Its not about how you start, its how you finish that matters.

If players contracts are expiring, it should be more of a motivational than demotivational factor. If these guys are playing poorly at Raith, there is hardly going to be a queue of other Championship clubs keen to offer them similar or better terms next season. Unless they have a pre contract lined up of course, then that can be a real issue.
Easton and Vaughan are their only 2 dangerous forwards, was happy that both got subbed on Saturday, because even if they were both off their game, still much more likely than any of their other players to come up with a goal. Easton would have been a good addition for us had we got him in July/August, but that ship has sailed now. His peak has probably come and gone.
This should be an extended period of Pars domination of Raith now, the natural order restored...now for Falkirk.

I think they stay up they’ll be fine. Relegation would be disastrous for them.
Honestly believe sacking Murray when they did was a terrible decision. I really don’t understand the thought process but they gave him the summer and spent on the squad accordingly and threw it all out after 1/2/3 games or whatever it was. Also think they should have taken the money for Easton…

Think they thought they were bigger, than they really were. They have not got the fan base we have, the crowds they get are really poor, you cannot progress, long term with such low home support.Pars always get over 5 thousand most games,in comparison,Raith on a good day ,scrape 3,if that.Us doing really well,we can hit well over 6 thousand easy.
