Hopefully a nice 1-1 draw and 5 points in the prediction league. Would be happy with a Partick win or a draw. We can’t catch them so winning their games makes absolutely no difference as can’t see them getting ahead of St Johnstone. On the flip side would be better for us if the gap to Raith stays as large as possible.

Other than against us, St Johnstone and PT winning all their games would be benficial for us.

Not sure I want them to go down…
If we don’t get promoted, I’d love to pump them four times next season.
Also don’t want them to have a 1st div title winning season to reset.

QP have 35 points, same as Ayr. Pars` Goal Difference (+8) vastly superior to both (Ayr -1, QP -10)

Its been a pivotal couple of weeks - we are now on a decent run at the right time.
We have had a great last 6 games - only St J I think are better and Ayr are poor.
We can secure 4th over the next 2-3 games

Raith - I don`t care what they do as long as they aint catching us.

Their crowds have been embarrassing ... less than 2500 tonight and given that includes STH`s it was probably 1500 in attendance with probably 400 Partick people included.
I hope their pie sales don`t show more pies than punters. The Inland Revenue will soon be asking "Who ate all the pies"

I was in Kdy from age 13 - 29

Whilst relegation would be funny - pumping them 4 times next season would be way better

For the size of kircaldy,I’m surprised how poor there crowds are, even when they were doing well.I might be wrong, but is there a bigger population in Kirkcaldy, than pars land?

It really depends on what you think the local catchment area is. With the demise of the old burghs, population statistics in Scotland are now measured in (at least) two ways - Locality and Settlement - by the use of contiguous postcodes. There can be significant differences between these, as a "settlement" includes all the adjoining urban areas.

LOCALITY (2020 figures):
Dunfermline 55k
Kirkcaldy 50k
Falkirk 36k
Motherwell 33k

SETTLEMENT (2020 figures):
Dunfermline 76k
Kirkcaldy 50k
Falkirk 103k
Motherwell 126k

Kirkcaldy`s figure remains unchanged as there isn`t much "Greater Kirkcaldy" beyond the town, whereas the other settlements include Rosyth, Inverkeithing etc (Dunfermline), Grangemouth, Larbert, Polmont, Stenhousemuir etc (Falkirk), Wishaw, Newmains, Holytown etc (Motherwell).

Not just that, Kirkcaldy also has the ice hockey team, that`s got to hit the football team, I think that`s about 2000 fans. There can`t be that many go to both.

I thought at the beginning of the season the Rovers would suffer for their promotion push last season. They have an older yeam with some legacy signings. I thought they would tail off as the season progressed. With older players they have generally peaked so there are diminishing benefits with respect to coaching than you would get from younger players. You can see the difference with ourselves in terms of tge improvements amongst tge younger players as the season has gone on. Yes there will be some inconsistencies but I think that far outweighs the drop in performances you can get from a team of older players who are near the end of their career or perhaps carrying longer term injuries.

Population figures hold less weight when you consider Dunfermline spent years being around 40k people before expanding rapidly (now around 60k) but primarily made up of either people moving from elsewhere in Dunfermline or from outside Dunfermline. Those outside will in most cases continue to follow the team they were brought up supporting and their kids the same. Obviously there are exceptions and the school engagement should help grow the support.

Kirkcaldy is a weird one in that Raith just never seem to have been well supported. Is Kirkcaldy populated by a lot of people who originated elsewhere in Scotland? Arguably you could include Glenrothes in "Greater Kirkcaldy" but it`s filled with the offspring of Weegie miners.

It is a strange one, I always think that a club that had `glory years` hang onto the support better, but I started watching the Pars 53 years ago, it just seemed great to me, despite the fact we were well past the glory years

Kirkcaldy area doesn`t even have a lot in the way of junior teams, but West Fife does, added to that (I grew up in Inverkeithing) plenty Hibs and Hearts fans in the area as well as Cheeks fans

Kirkcaldy splits support with the Flyers, but I really think Dunfermline is absolutely a football town

When you actually look at the numbers, there’s basically nothing in it.
We’re sitting at 7.102% of the local population turning up for home games, while Raith Rovers are on 7.098%. That’s a difference of 0.004%, which is absolutely tiny.
The problem is, when you walk along both high streets, the sad reality is that you’ll see more Celtic or Rangers tops than Dunfermline Athletic or Raith tops. It’s just the sad reality of it.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.
