can maybe see bray bene and hammy getting a start at most.

5 shots for Partick, none for us.
Didn`t we change to 4 at the back halfway through the last Partick game to stop us being overrun in midfield? We might need to try something similar

I don`t know if this factors into NL`s thinking, but there`s another smart reason to play this line up against Thistle.
We might well play Thistle in the play offs. This line up gives more of our players the chance to play against them, without Thistle getting any real sense of what our line up might be for those games.
I know I`m clutching at straws, but it could give us a tiny edge...perhaps?

PT very quickly get behind the ball when they lose it. You really have to play on the front foot and when you have space going forward you need to have a go at goal. Knocking the ball back just makes them look good defensively. When yourun at them they panic. We .ake them look better than they are at times

What`s strange about it?
They are unlikely to pick up 7 or even 8 points over us with 4 games to play.
We just need 3 points to secure 4th, and that is assuming one of the teams on 39pts finish with 100%.
With Ayr winning we can go 3rd on Tuesday, giving a slight advantage in the playoffs quarters.

Pretty much but not sealed.
3 teams 7 behind with 12 to play for.
If we win on Tuesday we just need two points even if one of the chasers win their last 4 games.
I don`t think its being too optimistic to say we are going to make it.
We were always up against it to get a result at Partick. It was smart resting players a bit for Tuesday. Much more likely points.

I think that the best we could have hoped for today was a point with our strongest team out. The most important game will be Tuesday where 3 points will pretty much secure 4th place. We need to leave ourselves a good chance of beating Falkirk next week so I thought today was a bit of a non game for us. Gives the chance for the squad who havent played much to get a run out. At the end of the day a playoff spot is for us to lose not other teams to win.

There is always the danger of injuries with so many competitive games in quick succession. Realistically are we ready to go into the premiership, i think personally not. Another season needed I think. Cup semi final, you want to make the final but there aee injury worries for sure. Sometimes the occasion brings out the best in certain players so lets hope. I do think on a big pitch pace will be important. Whatever happens over the next few games, its been a good season. Today was a bit predictable, players will want to avoid injury. I expect a different game next Saturday because the team is more than capable of winning it.

Interpreted it that Tod out for the semi final and Mullen with a groin injury unlikely as well.

it will be a far weaker line up on Tuesday and likely the same the following Tuesday as well with the Queens Park game after that potentially being a season decider.
right now the playoffs are far from secured.

Of course its strange, Ayr lose they cannot catch us. It`s simple. There really is no benefit finishing 3rd or 4th, apart from a bit extra money. We got to play home and away, if it was a one of tie and getting 3rd meant a home tie I`d u understand. But its not. Airdrie are a banker for tuesday, do u really think Lennon selects a stronger starting line up than today??? I`d imagine Lucas, J.Tod, Bene and probably Terrell gets a start. We can`t afford any injuries to any more important players. Imo, once the semi is done, win or lose, we need to get points to secure 4th minimum.

Arbroath have only won 1 of their last 8 (and lost the last 3 games). Queens Park and Raith have been in better form but hopefully they all take points off each other.
Lennon uncharacteristically coy regarding all 3 of Abdulai, Mullen and Tod’s injuries. When Olly Thomas had his scan he was immediately ruled out for the season. Rudden was quickly ruled out for the season as well.

I think 3rd is better because you have the home game 2nd leg, so if you need to come back or if it goes to extra time or penalties - I’d rather that was at EEP with our crowd behind us rather than up at that wind tunnel in Arbroath (or at Starks/Queens Park).

It`s still a playoff regardless of 3rd or 4th. But if we`re caught with group behind then we`ll be in no playoff. Just gives them hope gaining ground. 7 points ahead with 12 available is tough ask though. But doable
I didn’t see this post xgatespar. Apologies. I thought you were referring to not having any advantage finishing in the top four at all.
Only drink I’m partaking in at the moment is Coca Cola. Perhaps a little too much! 😊

Personally think we will finish 3rd nae bother.
Bit of a tricky time just now with the Semi-Final. Even with injuries I think we`ll be fine going into the play-offs.

Just listened to NLs post-match interview. Never heard him so downbeat and tetchy in the 12+ months he`s been with us. Out of character for sure, and (me being a glass half-empty guy) it makes me think there`s some seriously bad news on the injury front coming up. We`ve had terrible problems this year with long-term injuries, and being without JCM and Andrew Tod for the rest of this memorable season would be very sad.

I`ve not heard it yet but I thought he sounded pretty downbeat in the pre-match one too. ☹️

I heard it too and he sounded well off. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say Lennon is playing some games. I know it’s unlikely but he’s been in similar positions a million times. The guy is a winner and an elite man manager. The game today was a free pass to give players minutes. He’s taking a slight gamble with our league position for a good go at the cup. I think come next Saturday we will have an almost full strength team out.

Uncharacteristic for sure. We all have our off days. Hopfully its just frustration over injuries given where we are. Still alot to play for and hopefully we can rise to the challenge.
